Well after being back at work for four weeks I slipped when I got home it had swollen up and was unable to weight bear. Made a Trip to A&E no bone damage but he suspects I have torn my cartilage as it was slightly torn previously. So said a visit to A gp and another scan and to rest it till swelling goes down.
This was Monday and I informed work I might be back if it feels better today, it wasn't and I informed them it would be next wed now and I'd provide a self certificate and a sick note to cover the day's. Now it's most likelyiI'd need further time off in the future due to possibly needing surgery.
Now when I went back to work it was suggested I do 0700 - 1300 instead of 1500 but they have been putting me in for 7 shifts in a row. And my leg ends up like a baloon and I can hardly walk.
Now the shorter shifts were suggested because they don't want me going off again and getting a stage three meeting and possible dismissal. I went back to work under advice from physio as it would help build strength, but it's made it hurt more. I work in the nhs on a orthopaedics ward and I can't bend down or pivot on my left knee otherwise it buckles.
Sounds pretty grim. Are you in a Union? If so, contact you rep for advice.
