[#3589605]

OK, hive mind answer me this.

I may be relocating to San Francisco, with a need to get into SF centre and a bit of Silicon Valley.

Have a family and a 'modest' budget to rent a house.

Where should I live? I'm trying to balance a nightmare commute with space, closeness to riding and other outdoorsey stuff.

Anyone lived around there?

Thanks.

Bloody hell mate, you'll struggle. Talk about desirable real estate. Gorgeous city though, lucky get!

Edit, I always liked the look of Sausalito... Ticks two out of your three boxes.

My brother lived in Moraga with family.

I only lived in the City (Noe Vally). Loved it, well jealous.

I am told the Bay area has the highes priced Reals Estate in the world.

Where ever you go (within reason!) you'll have some good riding pretty close. No idea on rental costs but can't think of anywhere cheap there within a 2 hour commute!

Hmm the rentals are quite *exciting*.

Will need to factor that into my demands.

Hmm I've been to Sausalito, really nice but quite expensive (the property taxes seem really high too) and also the bridge looks like something of a bottleneck.

I'm not sure the yanks are ready for be bringing my Brompton to meetings....

Have a look at Fairfax and San Anselmo. The ferry from Larkspur can get you over to the city easily.

Quite expensive? Try megabucks. And as for the bridge bottleneck, the fast ferry is where it's at...
