[Closed] Rutland Cycling customer service woes

I’m not buying from them again

My take on this is that Rutlands returns system is so rubbish, they need to rely on their customers and a third party to tell them what’s happened to stuff

Me neither, my experience exactly. There appears to be no connection between their returns dept and the rest of the company. I understand the OP’s frustration.

Cougar

My reading is the same as you until the end.

They say "Have £20 credit"

He says no send me some pedals.

My understanding is if he had clicked on the pedals and then asked for price match he could have then bought then for under £2?

Ah the old troll insult! Good one! I mean, why not go with a classic?

Seems like people have had good and bad experiences with Rutland. All I know is that I won't be taking the chance again. As for 'missing out' on the pedals, while I'm far from rich, I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about £20.

Show me where I asked for compensation?
What I said was: "they might want to do a bit better than that". Admit that, as others have said, their returns dept and the rest of the company, don't seem to be able to communicate with each other. Pledge to do something about that perhaps.

Well it seems that Rutland, in addition to everyone else on this thread, took you saying "You might want to do a bit better than that" as a request for compensation rather than a better apology and a pledge to do something about their service.

That’s how I read it too. I don’t think the OP received excellent service, just standard. Certainly doesn’t warrant any bad press for the company imo.

I knew someone would be sad enough to go into the returns t&c’s.
Good for you, TheGingerOne

You come on here whining about what a dreadful experience you've had and asking for input/ views / etc.

Someone takes an interest and looks in a sensible place to find info pertaining to your traumatic experience...... and you berate them for it.

Based on this thread I'm totally at ease with the way you've been treated, and it seems most of the other posters are too.

Has the OP sent his rant to the Daily Fail?
Best place for it.

Describing Rutland Cycles as an LBS is like calling an oil tanker a boat. It's true but doesn't communicate the scale. They turn over 20 million a year and have 12 branches. The ones I have visited are huge

We have a LBS which is Rutland Cycles, very good service from them; excellent mechanic and much cheaper than I expected.

I'd recommend then to anyone.

Why did you feel they ought to do more?

If "more' was not seeking compensation, then what exactly was more deemed likely to be? By giving you £20 of credit, were they not already doing more?

Thgere are a lot of posts being deleted here. Someone seems to be favouring the OP. Now I wonder who that might be? Jungle Book will give us a clue, maybe.

Look back over this thread and the vitriol it has inspired it’s no wonder the country is the mess it’s in.

Are you actually being serious? You complained on a public forum and people gave points of view that disagreed with said complaint. If anything it is your posts that come across as aggressive. What does your final statement even mean? The majority of people who post here voted remain and I honestly can’t see how it had bearing on a thread about customer service.

I think that might be part of the problem actually. Maybe I experience things differently as a woman. What is without question is that it can be a horribly misogynistic place can STW.

It has zero bearing on the responses to this thread, and, I'm sure to the judgement that most people who read it will have. I certainly had no inkling or interest in your gender. You have had some pretty forthright replies, and given more than a few in return. I can't see any difference in your treatment over and above anyone else who thinks they are coming on here for a rant in an echo chamber and is shocked to find some criticism.

I'll not deny that STW harbours quite a few misogynists, but unless there have been posts that have been deleted there's no evidence of any on this thread. Possible sexism in that most seem to have assumed you were male OP, but I can't see anything gendered in any of the responses.
Frankly, you've been the most antagonistic poster on this thread OP. If you think this thread has been vitriolic you should definitely steer clear of any of the politics threads 😂

Had a few good and one really bad experience in Rutland.

I don’t and won’t shop there.

With a user name of The Pilot I had no name of your gender. I haven't read ever post in detail but I see no evidence of your gender being refered to. What am I missing

Other threads I do see sexism.

That’s it’s taken them 3 months to sort it out kinda suggests they’re a bit disorganised.

Have you never been inside a bike shop? 😂
16 year old Saturday boy, whose only interest is in spending the day staring at cool edits on the computer, takes delivery of parcel and puts it in an obvious place. Probably under the counter behind the pile of McD wrappers.
The parcel will be found when a new manager (minimum wage, likes the discount on bike parts) decides that he/she (let’s guess which!) can’t see out of the windows anymore so spends a day cleaning the place. Finding the remains of the previous manager along the way, but more importantly a pile of new-old stock which was behind the mirror.

It's a discussion forum. Different people have different viewpoints. Some people's differ from yours. You need to be able to cope with that. Or not.

Don't worry OP, there are lots of total bellends on here.

For what it's worth - my Giant Reign came from them without any locktite on anything, maxles that were so heavily greased that they unwound themselves and borked brakes.

Don't you be going calling people naughty names on here or you'll get your post deleted....

but unless there have been posts that have been deleted

My post was deleted for being personally insulting. It was, so fair enough. I'm afraid when I read the original post I thought the blowing things up about of proportion; the lack of common sense that other humans can make an error and the air of self entitlement that they deserved more than an apology (and going back for more when £20 of reward points was not convenient enough) could only have been the work of a man. My assumption was reinforced by the follow up posts by the OP clearly irked that the original rant was not well received by all - "surely only a man could be that thin skinned" I thought. Hence my use of the gendered insult as used again above in the plural by raybanwomble. However, it appears I was wrong - all those traits can manifest themselves in women too it appears. So I apologise to all the men out there I clearly insulted with my lazy sexism. There is no place in this world for misandry.
