Am considering this, any good online resources to check your projections will make it all work?

Never work out your hourly rate

I think the main points for this are:
How much do you need to borrow to get it going?
Can you survive without taking any money out of the business for 3 months?

I would suggest that you can run that through excel and come up with some decent answers depending on the complexity. The important part it can't do is luck and your efforts.

If it's just numbers you want stick it in excel. If you want to check you haven't missed something or want to write a business plan maybe take a look here https://www.gov.uk/write-business-plan

+1 for Excel to run test, there will prob be a number of downloadable forecasting sheets from the many business support sites.
One you jump in - I would go for Xero and a good accountant.
Welcome to the madness that is running your own business.

Do you have any small business advisers? Bank is probably a good resource.

Best time to get advice, sure there used to be small business advisers around. Look for some freebies.

Unless it's illegal in which case tell nobody

A mate of mine made use of such a service.

Yorkshire used to have Yorkshire Forward who helped small business setup. Even helped with grants etc
