I await AA mentioning Brandon Laney;

Come on its Brendon The Chainsaw Laney, go the man his full title at least!

Watched the Japan Ireland game now, what a joy it was to watch flowing passes down the backline and the foot work of their forwards before contact was great. If I was TJ or Duckman I'd be pretty bloody nervous right now!!

Autocorrect. True story; his first day of training everybody thought he was the new hooker, and was out of shape FOR a hooker. 6N record points scorer though. As for the WC we are hosed, even if we beat the Japanese, and I think we will; I can't see us bearing Japan or Ireland's aggregate scores/ bonus points.

Got a stat for that NMbuzz? I find that hard to believe.

I was surprised it was 14 too although it's now 13 with the replacements. Hamish Watson and Ali Price having gone home and being replaced by Magnus Bradbury (Glasgow) and Dorchester's own Henry Pyrgos.

John Barclay - Hong Kong
Simon Berghan - NZ
Allan Dell - SA
WP Nel - SA
Blade Thomson - NZ
Ben Toolis - Australia
Hamish Watson - Manchester
Ryan Wilson - Aldershot
Chris Harris - Carlisle
Sam Johnson - Australia
Sean Maitland - NZ
Ali Price - King's Lynn
Tommy Seymour - USA
Duncan Taylor - Northampton

Yeah the decent player jibe was based on comparative performances against Ireland in the 2019 RWC. 😉

We've had some poor ones - Shontayne Hape (shiver!), Henry Paul, Lesley Vainikolo, Mouritz Botha, Hendrie Fourie, Ricky Flutey, Ben Te'eo

12 of Japan's 16 foreign born players are Japanese citizens I think, and the majority of them also went to school/university in Japan. I think it's a little unfair to criticise them in that regard, especially given our own use of the residency rules.

If you want to enforce national purity, surely the place to start is with the coaches.

Ireland: Head coach - Joe Schmidt - NZ
Wales: Head coach - Warren Gatland - NZ
England: Head coach - Eddie Jones - Australia
Japan: Head coach - Jamie Joseph - NZ
Canada: Head coach - Kingsley Jones - Wales
Italy: Head coach - Conor O'Shea - Ireland
U.S.A.: Head coach - Gary Gold - South Africa

NMbuzz, only Johnstone,Nel and Harris are time qualified. The rest have at least a blood link. On the citizenship point; it is amazing and restores ones faith in humankind how a batch of Island rugby players managed to get citizenship of one of the hardest countries in the world to emigrate to. Maybe I am just a cynic though, I am sure they had all studied medicine and various obscure and in-demand engineering disciplines. They are probably compensating for not being able to play ex all blacks like Joseph like they used to.

These discussions are lame, the rules are there about nationality. Countries work to the rules. End of story. Lets talk about the Rugby.
England fans - Assuming England make it to the 1/4 finals (which is a big assume, we still have to face the Argies and Froggies) then we either get Wales or Oz.
So who shall I support today?

Lets talk about the Rugby.

When your team is winning, talk about the sport. When your team is losing, talk about the rules. Most fundamental principle in any sport.

In regard to nationality isn't TJ an Englishman by birth?

Good game this Aus vs Wales. Lots of mistakes making it fun.

For me Hoopers one of the most unlikable people.  But to suggest there’s no point Aus playing the game unless Wales tackle technique improves is laughable.

And oh, Gareth Davies!!!!

I always think that but you'd love him on your side. Even his face is annoying.

Victim blaming! 😁

Maybe the ref should point out that they should learn how to attack properly if they can’t do it without foul play. But he was right, it was awful tackle technique.

And now they’re playing the ref before the kick off even.  Cue Chekas wingeing and moaning after the match. They really don’t help themselves in the likability stakes.

I’m not going to say much for fear of jinxing things, but for me Wales are worthy of their lead. Australia will surely get their purple patch, I hope it is short and the 15pts is enough. A 1pt win is all I desire.
A. Wainwright living up to the hype, go Wales,

Ps we’re heading into “I’m not your coach” territory.

Fed up of the constant checking for someone tickling a head. Nothing wrong with Adams tackle at all that was rediculous and I have to agree with Hooper how the **** are you supposed to carry the ball?

Having said that I agree with Gauss all I want is a Wales win and hopefully we don't let Australia tight back into the game.

I thought the leading with the forearm should have been a red for Patchell.

The floodlights are going off.

Does Rob Howley have anything to do with it?

That, and head to head.
Anyway, great win for Wales. Thats them top of their group. Just need to see what we can do against Arg and Fra to see if/when we meet.

Don’t think I took a breath in the last 5 minutes and I was seriously worried at 78 minutes as there was no time for Wales to get another score if Australia had got a try.
However, we won. Some decent play at times in the first half.
Looking more like we’ll top the group. England in the QF? ; )

Fair play to Wales.

Cracking game and a very fast start got them over the line. I did look a bit like Australia might edge it; they looked a different team with Matt Tammoua playing at 10.

Wales ability to absorb pressure and not give away penalties is bloody impressive.

Well I'll just keep it to myself, then I'll tell you about it, then I'll say I'm going to keep it to myself.

TBH not in the Mike Brown petulant toddler league though.

A question about citing - if the incident has been reviewed on the pitch and nothing found - can someone still be cited? Like double jeopardy.

Like the Hooper incident? Let’s hope so, I thing that call was wrong.

Yeah that was clear yellow as a minimum, you can see Hooper watch the ball and paly move off as he decides to **** Biggar who was basically helpless to defend himself, personally I think obvious off the ball stuff like that should be red. It's not cricket..
However I also thought the Patchell call was just weird, the TMO raised the leading with the forearm by the Ozzie, which seemed 50/50 to me, so a penalty was a fair outcome. However I thought Patchell should have been Penalised for leading with his head? Looked like a red to me based on other sendings off (I don't really understand the rules, but I thought it was the tacklers responsibility to avoid head contact). I wonder will he get cited? If so lets hope Biggar gets well fast..

Have you been watching, at all, so far?
