13 wunundreds!
great game to watch.shame when stevens came on, he gave away two pens.. Ben Youngs needs to play some games away from eng.. Morgan needs to be fitter. Wales closed out the game during the yellow card and i didnt think that Lawes would have the ball ripped. Well done Wales.
The irony of englanders saying wales were lucky when england have with managed to win two games with chargedowns but they are stout yeoman toughing out away wins.........
That was a cracking game. Top draw entertainment, and I do feel for the English a bit, but to be fair if I were English I'd be pretty chuffed by the way my side played. Far from embarassing themselves they covered the pitch very well, attacked everything, showed a lot of commitment and individual skill I thought. And it really started coming together later in the game. Once they had the ball Wales had a hard time getting it back.
To be honest the last Wales try was a bit of luck, but I reckon a result of the way Wales are fighting (almost) every single contact not just taking the hit and going to ground.
I have to say I think the ref made the right decision re the last try. You can see the ball on the ground with his hand underneath the side of it but there's no way of telling if he had control of it and was pulling it down, or it was just resting on his hand.
Given the uncertainty, the ref had to award the scrum (if I remember the rules correctly) and since time was out, no side.
Fair play Wales, you were always going to win that one.
However, England showed some excellent promise, If they carry on that way, they'll be winning again soon enough.
Still too much talk about a welsh grand slam though. The test was always going to be the best NH team, and France are only just warming up.
English here and very proud of the performance today. Both teams played very well and I really enjoyed the game. The breakaway try was a thing of beauty but I do think that the final "try" should have been given and a draw would have been a fair result. However it wasn't so congratulations Wales on a good victory and well done England in your continued improvement under Lancaster, he's got to be in with a shout now.

Yup.
I was more than happy with the improvements that eng made. Wales had to think about what they were doing more. i think that eng need to be fitter tho..Morgan was splendid until he tired. ashton was off his game tho. Parling had a stormer of a game, 1st start for Eng and sorted the line out. A really good game to watch and could have been won by either team
Ashton really is a long way of last year's form. He seemed to be only committing to anything 80% instead of really running on to the ball or really relishing any contact. Confidence (over-confidence?) gone?
God, that game didn't half hurt my throat. Feel robbed having bet at 4/7 odds and having to sit through that.
Well played England, I thought you played better than us to be fair. Looked pretty dangerous for the first time this 6N however no tries. Great game.
boxfish - MemberWales by 1 score.
They're not as good as the media will have you believe.

Well my prediction was spot on, on both counts. ๐
England were much improved and prevented Wales getting any quick ball. Although the final result was not good for the men in white, they are moving in the right direction.
Tidy.
I thought the ref had awarded a penalty for offside at an earlier phase, at no point did I hear advantage over? Therefore back to the penalty surely?
Anyway great game England defended very well and read most of the welsh plays. Warburton brilliant at breakdown, didn't think either side deserved to lose to be honest. There will be some bruised bodies tomorrow.
Oh and the delayed match in Paris the other weekend could play into Wales hands for a Slam.
Worst game I've seen Priestland have...Pikey was gash as well.
Win is a win though.
Wales have learned to win when playing poorly...showed a bit of game management nous.
Surprised Priestland was carded though...he tackled a player who had recieved the ball from a player in the ruck who had already placed the ball, but subsequently passed it.
ho hum
he was never on side -standing a yard at least offside. so it wasn't the tackle - its where he came from
hew was offside though

Botha had been lying on the floor for five mins before he passed it

Oh FFS sort it out

How come?
france play every week now I believe, Wales will have a rest?
Brakes is that meant to prove or disprove the try?
Brakes, I think that the pic from Boxfish rather cancels out yours, don't you? Especially as neither of yours are of any consequence.
It wasn't a try.
I don't know, I just thought I'd give people the opportunity to see a still of what convinced me that it was a try and give their opinion of why they think it's not, and perhaps why the TV match offical couldn't see this as conclusive.
The problem with the try still above its taken from low down. So its a bit like those third umpire referrals for catches in cricket - a perfectly good catch looks as if its grounded. The other two normal angles showed no try IMO.
Either way just about deserved by Wales. A bit more class and composure -apart from butchering a 2 man overlap. And please England, pick any one of 3 wings at Gloucester instead of Ashton ๐
Was today's match typical of rugby ATM? Just seems to be endless rucks and scrums.
In the pictures above there is no downward pressure even if the ball is on the line his hand is under it.
England played well and awakes were lacking any spark in the back line beyond bashing away like battering rams cf Tindall etc
What gets my goat is all the handling in the ruck. In the Scots v Wales game you constantly heard the ref shouting hands but he barely gave any penalties for it. This leads to slow ball, defences line up and hammer the attacking players esp if the ref is weak on the offside as well.
Just winds me up to have the ref warn them repeatedly rather than penalise them and try and improved the flow of the game.
Anyway waiting for our own version of bump'n'bash with Morrison and Lamont tomorrow. Don't know why we bothered picking wingers.
he was never on side -standing a yard at least offside. so it wasn't the tackle - its where he came from
quite true...although the england player had already commited an offence before Priestland tackled.
Doesn't matter though...there's only one ref.
The other two normal angles showed no try IMO.
the other two angles were blocked when the ball was downed, therefore they were 'inconclusive' rather than showing 'no try', but I guess that equates to the same thing?
there is no downward pressure
^this, I can see as a reason, but I think it would be harsh.
You could also argue he is not in control of the ball from that pic as well.
Live with it. Don't moan about it too much as it is unbecoming. Be happy your team has 2 wins already and isn't nervously eyeing the tree based cutlery item again!
We can all remember tries that shouldn't have been eg wilkos foot in touch against Scotland. ( still not bitter ๐ )
I'm not moaning, it's just galling that England finally put in a good performance, come close to winning against a formidable confident team and then don't because of a decision by an official that could be argued either way.
It seems that match officials make decisions on tries in the absence of doubt. Why didn't Walsh say "any reason not to award the try?" rather than "try or no try"?
Brakes, let it go. After today, we are in the ascendancy.
However, the victory was Wales and congratulations to both teams for a good match.
There have definitely been tries disallowed in the past that were much better supported by evidence...
Why didn't Walsh say "any reason not to award the try?"
Cos he didn't know. They ask that when they think there's been a score, but they just need to check - foot in touch, that kind of thing.
After today, we are in the ascendancy. However, the victory was Wales
Agreed - both sets of fans should be chuffed I reckon. Rugby was the real winner... aargh nooo I said it! I'll get my coat.. yeah that one.. with the Wales scarf.
Well done Wales.
To lose might not be a bad thing for England anyway. They surprised everyone today, and as said earlier are heading the right way. They need to feel the pain of defeat sometimes for their long term benefit. Farrell's anger at having to go off speaks volumes. Definitely a good day for England, no shame in losing that game.
Maasive difference in the wales ireland game and the eakes england game was the way the ref controlled the breakdown. One was a free flowing game the other was an arm wrestle. Both games wales won but could easily have lost.

If they scored the try, and flood landed the conversion (from the touchline and on the wrong side for him) the game would have been a draw..England couldn't have won
any one else shouting at the tv when lawes came on?? just when we needed stability
oh.............and get Gethin Jenkins a bloody handbag - whining at the ref at every oppertunity - it's not limp wristed football
sorry - rant
