Good stuff from Wales.

Australia looked like they could break through at any moment but they're just a bit crap in many respects.

Bye bye Eddie!

That penalty in the first half at 10-6 when Australia kicked for the corner from under the posts was the real turning point for me. Threw the lineout to Wales and have conceded 22 unanswered points since.

Tompkins was gey close to offside.

Australia are absolute dog-shite tonight. They're getting monsters off the pitch by a Wales team that have been fairly awful of recent.

What the hell has EJ done to Australia? Credit to Wales for a great performance, but I don't think I've seen a worse Aussie performance. They are not competing anywhere.

Wales were efficient and effective but Australia were just lost - I've rarely seen anything like it from a top tier side

Wales world beaters now!

As a Welshman, I want to say what an awesome performance. But it’s hard to say just how bad Australia were.

But wow I didn’t see that result coming, very happy, actually gutted I didn’t go to the pub to watch it. Also I’m quietly pleased Biggar went off early and we didn’t fall to pieces.

Tompkins absolutely WAS offside.   Didn't really change the result though.

The Crims were truly awful (and have been all year).

I hadn't realised - Wales are apparently the first team through to the Q finals. Lovely 😍

And a very winnable quarter final at that

Not if they play England according to Rugby Union Weekly - they reckoned that England would comfortably beat either Wales or Fiji 🤷

I think you're right though. Wales and Fiji have a decent chance of winning their Q- final games. Could easily go either way.

Well done Wales.
Aus were like EJs England of late, over managed and unable to adapt. They have good playera but no plan.
Please please Japan take note, he's not an open flowing rugby coach

Its a bit early but its not too out there to suggest we might see an all Northern Hemisphere semi-finals.

The easy half of the draw still looks wide open.

I think Fiji are the side I'll be routing for, they play lovely rugby, but I can see England shutting them down and grinding out a result too.

After last night performance, Wales look stuck on for a semi final.  Its a toss up who comes second in Pool D, but I think Wales would have the beating of either Argentina or Japan.

So a Wales / Eng or Wales / Fiji semi with Wales making the final?

No, Wales (if we progress) get a Semi with Ireland/NZ (most likely outcome) winner. So 3rd place play off after that.

Winner of Eng/Fiji gets to play either SA or France.

Swaps back at semi stage. Teams from same group can't meet again until final

Thanks, hadn't realised. Makes the Semis a bit more balanced then

I think you cant blame EJ entirely. Oz have been terrible (by their standards) for years. He's just not fixed the problems.

Ireland needed a last min penalty to beat Australia in the November Internationals. The lost a lot of close games and at least looked competitive.

They've been uncoachable for years. Robbie Deans(who was a powerhouse in Super Rugby) was forced out after players just disrespected him to his face in the locker room. He was replaced by Ewen McKenzie who left after the players had a shouting match on a commercial flight with the female business manager. He was replaced by Michael Chieka, who was erratic and didn't get results. He was replaced by Dave Rennie (another top Super Rugby coach), but he was replaced after dismal results. Eddie Jones has coached the team to their worst results in living memory. It's not just the coaches, they've had a series of coaches who've mostly been very successful, there just seems to be a rot at the heart of Australian rugby. It's sad thinking back to where they were 20 or 25 years ago.

Has anyone watched GrandSlammers?  Basically it’s some ‘03 team back together to teach a series of prisoners to become a rugby team.  Entertaining, funny, cliched but also some quite profound and previously unknown moments amongst the old fellas.
