I dont disagree that Townsend is a rubbish coach, I just think Russell sounds like a spoilt child too.

Sounds to me like he's been dealing with Toonie for 7 years and has finally had enough. It's definitely more than just wanting a 3rd pint.

He's seen that the grass is, in fact, greener on the other side and he's decided enough is enough.

I don't understand the rip rule either. Ford (offside) rips the ball it gets pinged as knock on. Scrum, which Scotland just don't want. Ref dismissed Hogg every time he asked about a rule interpretation. I'd back the 1 captains challenge each half.

Who would adjudicate on the challenge?

TMO - it works in american football and cricket? Having said that I really do not see the point as many contested decisions are subjective not objective

Thanks Duckman and Brucewee. Having read that interview I can only conclude that whilst Townsend is in place there will be no place for Russell. There is no trust between the two. We're doomed I tell ye DOOMED!

I can’t see us persuading Gatland to take the job so who do you have in mind?

Well, Gatland wouldn’t work in a Scottish setting, he wouldn’t pick any Scottish players for a start.

😉

BBC has it that the two pint rule was from senior players, not Townsend.
Sounds like Russell thought he was above team rules cos he plays in France now. Then missed training.
Not surprised he was dropped for first match.

Loum - Russell is one of the leadership group and he wasn't told about the two pint rule nor any part in making it. that was the first time the rule had been invoked

Thats just the trigger / the SRUs excuse. It all goes much deeper and further back

What I find really disturbing is the SRU's drip drip feeding the line that Finn has a drinking problem.

Disturbing but not at all surprising.

Fair play to Finn for keeping quiet until after the Calcutta Cup match so as not to disturb preparations. It shows some real character to keep quiet while an organisation is trying to character assassinate you.

For any Scotland supporters who fancy a depressing read about where we are.

Its Russells best hope on getting on the Lions tour, turn his back on Scotland now!!
I see Jones is unhappy about booing and an empty plastic bottle being thrown!!

All sounds very petty / poor...

Two pint rule seems a bit overbearing especially if it’s not actually been filtered to all, including a supposed member of the leadership group.

It feels like it’s being spun to make Russell out as a problem child.

Thrown or blown? But why bother finding out the truth before making it into a big story?

But you crack on, Eddie. We love you really.

I used to be against the booing at Murrayfield but it upset Jonathan Davies so much I actually started to appreciate it.

Now that I know it upsets Eddie as well it just makes me happier.

Plenty of tries, some great runs and not totally one sided. Probably the best game Italy have had for a while.

All of the sides seem to me mentally tired. Generally a bit sloppy play and going on/off the boil in a game more than normal.

Nice gesture from Farrell and co the other week presenting Nigel Owens with a jersey to celebrate his 98th test as a ref.

He comes across as a bit of grumpy, petulant sod so it’s a shame that stuff like this isn’t picked up on more.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/beautiful-unseen-gesture-owen-farrell-17702027.amp

It oddly came up on my Facebook feed.

Saw another story with marler not being a dick too.

Went to find the French prop who made his debut against him to give him his shirt. Told him to keep his own too with it being first cap.

Farrell is an odd one in that in many ways a model pro off the field. However his behaviour on the field is often really objectionable and every match needs a pantomime villain - he is it!

That video up there is shit and proves nothing. Yes it shows the bottle being blown off the roof of the coach but it also shows it getting up there with some force. How do we reckon that happens if its not been lobbed by someone? I can't imagine that they generally carry a few bottle on the roof. It certainly looks like it comes from the direction of the crowd.

It's ok though, cos it's just the arrogant English.....

SRU are looking at the video closely to identify the culprit. After Saturday, they need a new lineout coach.

Plastic bottles. They blow around and there is some swirling around in that area

Go on then, post your video that proves someone threw it.

My god, some of you are addicted to playing the victim, aren't you.

Ha, ha, yeah right. 🙄

My god, some of you are addicted to playing the victim, aren’t you.

Can you imagine the outcry if this had happened to to the Scottish team outside Twickenham. RFU might generally be dicks, but I reckon they would come out and condemn if it did though. As would most England fans. Don't see much of that here.

Fair enough it might only be a plastic bottle this time but the fans at Murryfield do seem to getting more and more angsty towards England, and that's not rugby IMO.

You seem convinced that the bottle was thrown. Why?

Here's an account from someone who was there that I got from another forum

Actually saw this happening. The top tier had a bin that was overflowing with the plastic bottles. The wind took 4/5 of them off the top of the bin and two escaped the clutches of the stewards and members of the public. One got taken by the wind and ended up ending out of harms way. One bounced on the top of the bus and then onto the ground. It was not thrown by anyone. There was a storm there....remember Eddie....storm equals high winds and plastic bottles and high winds do not go together but again EJ makes a normal event into an attack. Sheesh.

Nope, just don't see in the video that it wasn't thrown.

If it was blown by the wind fair enough, it's nothing. Guess we'll see in 2 years how the Scotland fans are towards the England team won't we.

I don’t think the bottle was thrown; there were 30 chaps on the pitch who couldn’t pass, kick or throw the ball accurately because of the weather. I doubt some pissed up fan was able to lob something as light as a bottle with any accuracy!

The bigger issue for me is the young lad giving the ‘stroking one’s gentleman’s sausage’ action at the English players in the video. Is all a bit ‘football’ for me. I’m fully aware of the reasons for bad feeling etc but with the build up of hate etc in the press it seemed like the opportunity for acting like a tool.

Back to the Pro 14. Edinburgh playing Scarlets in rotten conditions. I wonder what all our saffers and Fijians think of it?

Scarlets dont have the players to be that great when Wales squad players are away.

Edinburgh are missing around 15 players I think. We even had to drag Barcs out of semi retirement.

edit - Eight missing on international duty, a couple more only playing a half because they are going to be on the bench or playing next week

Yet you can still rely on a number of quality Mercs like Matta, Schooman and a few van der somethings, Scarlets dont have the budget.

Hogg scored a cracking try for Exeter last night.

Started the move and dismissed it...made sure the ball was firmly in two hands!

Wasps were shit today. Tigers were slightly bless shit.

Scarlets have the same budget or very similar to Edinburgh. Its how you spend the money that counts. Want too much even if you are a Scotland star - go away. 1/4 million is being spent on AWJ for a max of 10 games for example. ( plus what he gets paid from the WRU). No one in Scotland earns as much as the top welsh players - that leaves you not enough for a deep squad

AWJ doesnt play for Scarlets, it should be noted also that Wales have won some stuff over the last 15 years Scotland have won?

Shit - its the other Wyn Jones isn't it! You should not have two players with the same name bar a hyphen in a different place. It confuses folk

the lack of budget is an excuse that does not stand up. Its spending your money wisely that counts.

Its not their money its the WRU's and they have prioritised the Wales team. Like I said swings and roundabouts but at least Wales have won stuff without being able to look after the players Wales wouldnt have donecas well.
Meanwhile Scotlands best player has played this weekend for Exeter and there other best player has ****ed off to France cause he cant stay off the beer.
