Nah, McCandless is a hack. He lacks the technical insight of Tufte (see his continual use of circles) but is equally as uncritical as Tufte which makes his work one dimensional.

Not a stats guy, a critical information design guy. I can't tell you how to do multi-linear regression, but i can damn well critique the ontological assumptions of cartographic representation.
