As per title.
Considering an afternoon on the bevvy watching the Ronde itself (1st April) and/or Paris Roubaix a week later.
If Ronde would be inappropriate, does anyone know of any pubs in Edinburgh which routinely show cycling?
Do Ronde do booze? Be better asking the Antiquary just round the corner to put the cycling on...
Does the Tourmalet show cycling?
we will be screening both these races on a big screen, however we have no license for booze at the moment. we're looking into having belgian products available for consumption on those days! Our coffee is good though if you prefer caffeine to duvel
We've a new website going live mid Feb so keep an eye out for that which will have all events on it. Your only other hope of seeing this in a pub might be our friends at the Tourmalet at 25 Buchanan Street just off Leith Walk. Nice pub anyhow so worth a visit.
I often wondered if the tourmalet was a cyclists pub
hmmmmmm
5G.
That's some pretty damn good astroturfing going on there.
Watched a stage of the tour de france in Ronde last year shortly after they opened. Good coffee, decent cake and a fair sized telly to watch it on, but as they say above, nae booze.
Tourmalet is a great pub, with some bits and bobs of cycling stuff dotted about and some tasty German bottled beers. Good mix of folk and friendly staff, but I'm not sure if they even have a TV. I heard they had some of the tour on last year... but shown on a laptop, which sounds terrible.
Ronde is probably the best option other than finding a pub and asking nicely if they'll stick it on for you. Depending on what wendyball is on that day you may get told where tae go.
EDIT: When asking to get the cycling put on you may be told to piss off regardless of whether there is a match on.
i've seen vuelta highlights in the golden rule in polwarth. i wonder if you could ask in there? plenty of screens so might be able to choose the channel on one if it's quiet...?
