Over the holidays I watched Two Lane Blacktop, Vanishing Point and American Grafitti again. I also saw Le Mans, while not strictly a road movie I enjoyed the vibe.

Which other classic road trip films should I look out for. I'm not into recent remakes. I like the low budget originals.

One Week - a Canadian film - road trip on a Norton.
Do not look up the story too much to avoid spoilers.

The Wraith

Yes! Had that on vhs as a kid it hasn't crossed my mind in decades.

OP mentioned my favourites. Try Drive. Not much actual driving but very stylish/atmospheric.

Dazed and Confused? A handful of amazing cars and trucks and a slow, day-in-the-life kind of plot with awesome music.

Great, funny, surreal road movie.

A real hidden gem.

As above, The Straight Story, Fandango and The Road. Sort of a road movie but classic Americana would be Bruce Brown's 'On any Sunday'.

Red Rock West - A rare decent Nic Cage film. He's driving in much of it anyway.
U Turn - an even rarer decent Jennifer Lopez film.
