Has anyone got one they want to lend for 3 weeks from 16th Aug. Or, any recommendations on best website to use to get temporary tags? Also when is the EETS thing coming in?

Ta

Works out more expensive as you pay a fee to get the tag, and there is one kind of minimum top up amount. No discount n toll cages either. Goodbifbyou use them regularly and throughout the year ie lorry / coach divers etc. Using a cc or dc at the tolls is mega quick and most people still go for cash / attendant options.

+1 what he said - lots of chat about this in snow heads too. CC payments at tolls are super quick - you don't need to enter your PIN.

Yeah, the French haven't really got their tolls sorted out. At peak times you can still end up with huge queues for the toll booths, and because the dedicated "t" lanes only exist for the last 100m or so, you still have to sit in most of jam even if you've got a tag.

It seems bizarre to build a truly excellent motorway system across the entire country and then to add bottlenecks at all the toll booths. Surely they just need to offer a bit more of a discount on the tags so that more people use them and the problem will go away?

To answer the OP's question, I got mine from https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/ - very efficient and not very expensive, but you're paying for convenience rather than getting a discount for being efficient...

You can get them over the counter at selected services in France. There's one just outside Calais IIRC.

cheers Chaps, it was more convenience, as although the missus will be in the passenger seat, it's likely she'll be asleep and reaching over is not an option..

180 deg handbrake turn followed by rolling backwards to a stop level with the toll window as you approach and then a J turn get away. Sorted.

Don't really need one for Italy (Assuming they even do one?). Get ticket when you join, pay when you leave. Not exactly a big deal to lean over, or get out and walk round to the attendant for 1 off payment. Pretty cheap too on the sections I used. France was cheap too last time - I put one coin in and the barrier went up. Dunno if it was a special offer or something?

I've got a Sanef tag, love it as it makes tolls so simple, there are now some car parks in france that use them too. Saves my half pint Mrs having to clamber around trying to reach to pay the toll and saves me misjudging the distance to the toll booth, thank you for folding mirrors,,,,

I'd say get one, the time savings make it worthwhile. I'm not so sure I'd lend it to a total stranger from an internet forum mind you, especially when it's associated with my credit card for payments.

I have one for French autoroutes, it's brilliant. Best of all it's set up to charge against Mrs MdL's bank account. No, you can't borrow it.
