Of course it's not the last one. They'll remake them all again in 20 years time with Rey as a grey-haired hippy and some even more powerful jedi/sith types who can do even more magic. And they still won't have invented wifi.

So a ship left in the desert for years hasn’t been scavenged and starts straight away. Likewise a sunken X Wing and Tie Fighter that’s been left on the remains of a Death Star in the sea.

You would have thought that real actual yoda and kenobi would have known that Palpatine, the bloke they were working for was a a sith lord too!!
Yoda, shittest Jedi ever!

There's a line in one of the prequels where they admit that their force seeing stuff isn't working properly. Not really hard to think that the sith could hide themselves from jedi though, it's just basically a bit of equal-but-opposite, like Young Nastyman

Saw it this evening. Someone was clapping at the back of the cinema at the end. I can only imagine because it had finished and they could go home.

Space horses! Not even Wedge Antilles could recover it from that

Space horses!

The ships are still in atmosphere at that point, so they're not space horses. They were a bit shite though, I'll give you that.

7/10 for me. Spent the first 20mins getting over TLJ story problems, then was quite good.

Agree too many ships arrived to help at the end, and the kiss between Rey and Ben was out of sync

Spotted Jody Comer, Wedge, guessed one of the Ewoks would be Warwick Davies. Bizarrely I thought I saw Rhod Gilbert celebrating with the resistance at the end, albeit very unlikely!

Kind of wish the emperor had won- his character was great!

Heals a giant snake-worm, doesn’t heal Poe’s arm – selfish.

I think that's mostly because Poe's a pure fanny and doesn't deserve healing.

The main moan on the car in the way home was my daughter ranting that resurrecting Palpatine with no previous hints wss very poor poor story telling.

But rarely do all 4 of us agree to see a film together it we enjoyed it

I loved the crashed death star

Oh and bloke behind me on the way out was saying R2D2 is the only character in every film

Good that. Sums it up very well - which is good for me because I had actually completely forgotten everything that happened in the pile of shite.

R2D2 is not in Solo, C3PO and R2 are in every other film including rogue one.

Have you not read any of the Hybrid car threads on here?

Watched it with the kids 7&9 they loved it so job done.

It flowed better than the last one (that ridiculous momentum killing casino scene)

Lando was comfortably out-acted by Carrie Fisher & she's dead

The battle at the end was just a bit daft- bazillions of ships!, the beacon on the ground was daft, moving it onto withnails ship was daft- why couldn't all the star destroyers have one? space horses definitely daft

Mostly it's just a bit daft that the planet killing cannon underneath each Star destroyer was a giant self destruct penis that detonated after one laser blast from an x-wing

I still enjoyed it, Adam driver stole the show , but the 3 heroes were well cast & it worked well

At least there's still Rogue One!

Enjoyed it a lot but cant for the life of me see how this is the last one in the saga.

It was completely set up for there being a next one.

We need more Thrawn IMHO.

Saw it today with Beaker Jr (aged 8) he fidgeted for about the last 45 mins and I left underwhelmed.

Yep I was left a little underwhelmed. I liked the force awakens but it left me a bit worried that they were just going to remake the original trilogy so I was ok with the last Jedi more than most as at least it tried to take it a different way .

So today I left the cinema thinking that JJ has basically ignored the 2nd film in the trilogy, say what you like about George Lucas but both his trilogy’s had a coherent story that ran through the 3 films .

Knights of REN turned out to be a bit of a non event .

It was the same story in each one (trilogy), which probably helped!

Haven't seen this yet, but the first 2/3s of this trilogy has been a repeat of the same story as well.

I'm expecting absolutely nothing when I see this, so hopefully it'll be good.

I enjoyed it. A bit cheesy at times but that's par for the course. I imagine if we all saw the first (4th) one for the first time now we'd be ripping it to bits. Just a religious theme with fluorescent dildos etc....

I had a genuine LOL at the horses. Haven't the films always had daft stuff in it like this? They're not meant to be some stuffy old Charlton Heston type 'epic' from the 60's. You're meant to find bits of it funny.

Saw it tonight at the IMAX, enjoyed it far more than TLJ.

Only question I have, is if Palpatine is Reys grandfather then when did he have kids? The age of her parents in the flashback would imply they were a similar age to Luke and Leia but that's around the time Mace ****ed him up (nobody would want to shag him after that) and you would presumably heard all about his wife and young family before that when he was keeping up the Senator front. Missed a generation methinks.

I expect a sith lord can get laid if he wants too unencumbered by needing to get married.

That pitch meeting is ace and it's saved me the cost of going to the pictures to see the film now 🤣

Also, when does Lucas get the rights back so he can retcon these last three out of existence?

Apparently Rey's lightsabre handle was made from her staff that she had in the desert originally. I read that rather than spotting it myself...

This. I enjoyed the film, though the first 30 minutes seemed to be mostly running around for no great reason. The equivalent of turning the amplifiers up to 11. After that it settled down into the usual enjoyable nonsense. A solid 7/10 for me.

Just watched it this evening. I'm not sure. Maybe a 6/10 if I am being generous. It promised so much in parts, then just ****ed it up in the next scene.

It should have been called "No-one Ever Really Dies" though.

Some interesting stories coming out from the cast & crew

Editing time was much shorter than previous films in the rush to make it for Xmas release , a lot of scenes had multiple takes that were in/out in the script & decided at last minute, eg Adam/daisy kiss.

A lot of extra stuff was scripted & filmed featuring CG Leia , so the hobbit & Rose & the other rebels had a lot of scenes cut, the reasons for this either, time constraints, cost/ quality of CG (tho imho cg Leia was done pretty well this time) plot etc , with some actors a bit miffed a lot of their scenes never made it. I can understand why they didn't want to get bogged down in that possibly schmaltzy stuff, I favour of more palpatine , tho it did feel that those rebel characters were shoehorned in a bit.

Two weeks on and I still remember enjoying the film, but I couldn't tell you what the plot was.

Saw it Monday at the BFI IMAX (Waterloo). I enjoyed it. One or two very silly bits (space horses on the outside of the Star Destroyers in particular) but it did what it set out to be - to close the series.

Not as good as Rogue One. Surely the best of the Star Wars movies?

Saw it last night.

Given the brief and the way the last one ended, I thought it was very good indeed.

I doubt I'll ever watch the three prequels again, but Rogue One, Solo and 4-9 all stand up imo.

Episode IV
Empire

Force Awakens for nostlagia trip.

That's it. The others don't derserve a ranking.

There are only two Alien movies too - in my mind.

A quick Han Solo you mean?

And there's only one Alien film.
The others are all bollocks. Especially Aliens, which is just a bunch of ****ers blowing things up.

The lad who took our tickets and showed us to our seats at the flicks last night was called Wan btw.
Said nowt, he's probably heard it all before.

I enjoyed it but tried not to think about it at all - too many ridiculous bits. However, I had to stop myself from laughing out quite loudly when Daisy decided that she couldn't train anymore because she was a bit tired. Very twenty-first century. "I'm going now, can't be bothered, bye. Anyone want a coffee?'
