fitting aerial in the loft, and the wall mounted aerial cable that runs inside the walls of the house has no signal coming in ..I suspect it must have kinked somewhere when they build the house 🙁 I would just have to run a new cable from loft to living room .. would RG6 suffice? or shell out extra for PF100

I expect he'll ask two questions:
How long is the cable run?
How far are you from the transmitter?

Depends on cable run length really, personally I would use pf100/wf100 but if it's a short run then rg6 will suffice as signal loss would be minimal
