Hi Folks

We've recently moved house, and plan on knocking down a conservatory to replace it with a 'proper' extension.

Is reusing the some of the PVC windows from the conservatory (which is 5 years old) in the new extension a viable option? What would be the pro/cons.

I can't seem to find anything conclusive on t'interweb. All seems to be about recycling/disposal, not reusing windows in their current form.

Cheers

If they are individual units then perfectly fine. However if they're not brick gauge in a brick extension they'll look shit.

Shouldn't be an issue. You need building regs to fit any windows these days but if you are doing an extension it'll just fall under the one ticket. You might need to prove that they are up to current spec if your building inspector is fussy (unlikely).

Cons would be that it might be a false economy if they need replacing in a few years. They also don't always come out easy and clean. Depends how they have been fitted.

If you are flexible with your sizes then new windows can be had pretty cheaply as mis-measures from suppliers or on ebay
