Trying to avoid throwing out a 240v Bosch Multitool.  Any help appreciated!

It stopped dead whilst trimming skirting boards a couple of days ago.  Took it apart and messed around with the multimeter, couldn't really find out what was dud

The magnets on the outside of the motor have two heavy orange wires on one side, and lighter gauge white and blue wires on the other.  There is voltage between these and after testing multiple bits with the meter I inadvertently left it on resistance and bridged the two orange wires.  It jumped into life, and although annoyed that I hadn't actually found the problem, I put it back together and got another hours use out of it before it stopped again.

Now when I repeat the trick it will hum or jump but won't run again.  I found the winding wire to the blue and white side was broken but I reckon I did this with the multimeter probes. Resoldered them and I'm getting 19 ohms between the orange wires and the respective white or blue so I think thats good.  On the commutator that the brushes contact I get 30ohms on opposite sides of all contacts but if I started testing closer together the resistance gradually drops to 5ohms, I wasn't sure if these should all be isolated from each other.

Help save this from the bin and my wallet for a £70 like-for-like replacement!

Having followed Dean Doherty for a while, I'd suggest glancing through his videos on repairing & fault finding tools, and do a specific search for you model on YT, to see if anyone else has experienced the same issue
