I may be heading for a well paid but temporary contract which will involve a commute. My company car went with the last job.
Anyone any experience of hiring a car for a short period? Better economy to just buy one?

I used a company called apex a few years ago, they would lease on 28 day basis, got a new car every 3 months from them for 2 years

Spend £1k on a cheap diesel of some sort, run it for 3 months and you'll get most of your £1k back. Especially if you buy at this time of year when prices are at their lowest. It might cost you a bit to run but less than it'll cost to rent something new.
