[#13532441]

I need to replace a shower bar valve and the current one has the following gripper plate holding the pipes in place:

https://www.showerspares.com/search/gripper_ring_assembly_214022/?srsltid=AfmBOopdpN4bVq951pfHts-j6YFGT-t855q0kQLgeGTzCX8rOZgg5rvk

Before I start removing the shower valve, does anyone know how to remove this without damaging the pipes?

Would it be possible to break off everything except the metal rings that do the gripping, then fit the new valve to cover the rings?ย

I imagine the gripper rings could be pushed further onto the pipes once the rest of the bracket is gone?

Failing that buy some either really good OR disposable side/flush cutters and ship the rings once they are exposed?

Can the teeth be levered out with a small screwdriver and bent far enough out that they won't dig into the pipe? If they spring back maybe cut a bit out of a juice can and slide it under the teeth to stop them digging in?

Could always just break the plastic and cut it from the outside edge in

I'll give those ideas a go. Have a few small screwdrivers and cutters.

Thanks.ย

Could you push/tap aย  brass olive into the ends of the grippers so that they lift off the pipe? Might be able to just slide off that way.
