Just wondered if anybody could recommend a decent pub in the Thetford area going towards the Midlands ?

Me and a mate are XC Racing at Thetford this Sunday and would be nice to finish the day off in a decent pub with a spot of food.

Cheers

There's a van at the race. It sells the most amazing food you have ever tasted in your entire life.

Egg and bacon baps, sausage baps, you name it, they've got it. Heston Blumenthal could not do better himself.

I've always been a fan of the Hare Arms, on A10 south of Kings Lynn, in a place called Stow Bardolph. Not a huge selection of beers but well kept and the food is fab.

Have the pepper steak pie. I'm mostly veggie but make an exception there.

There's the Plough at Icklingham, about 7 miles away from Elveden.

Visited last year and the food and beer were both very good.

Doodlebug,

Another pub which is further down towards Newmarket is the Tharp Arms in Chippenham: http://www.thetharparms.com

It might be less of a detour for you if you are heading back on the A14.

Food is typical pub grub stylee, but the beers are always well kept.

There are a good few good beer pubs in Bury St Edmunds that is about 15minutes form the A11.

Failing that you could try Gordon Ramsey's best British restaurant just off of the A11 on your way back:

ate there a few weeks ago - very yummy ๐Ÿ™‚
