And as for Jxc90...I'm trying to find out what the message is in that rambling waffle! 😉
Greybeard,
I'd never suggest leaving any form of litter in the countryside or even in a campsite, by dispose of it (the tinfoil) I meant that they carry it out with them.
I meant that they carry it out with them
Thanks for the clarification - no problem, carrying it out is fine and still much less than was carried in. I read a different meaning into "dispose of" and didn't want anyone thinking it was a good idea. Blame the internet for making ambiguity easy!
No dramas Greybeard mate. My background means that my default setting is to leave nothing behind. Not even flattened grass if you can help it, so my turn of phrase probably didn't help matters.
Is she going to be able to fix it if it gets a puncture. I slept out sub Zero on Kinder at the weekend on a Karrimor Z mat copy £10 at sports direct. Warm enough, light and cheap as Chips.

It's a shame so many people don't seem to be able to apply that to sweet wrappers, cans and banana skins.
Plenty of good info on this... ta everyone.
As an update from my initial dilemma, I've bought a s/h thermarest (3/4 length and 370gms) on ebay and am also ordering an Alpkit Numo which may or may not arrive in time for her trial expedition.
If it does turn up she can have a 'lie-in' test and take whichever she prefers. The other one will possibly either be returned or sold - but I have twins who want to do their D of E in the future so may I'll just keep them both.
Checked her [cheapo] sleeping bag yesterday and it only goes down to 8c 😯 - new vango bag ordered!
The temperature rating of a sleeping bag can be improved by keeping some clothes on.
ignore - wrong thread ...... doh!
