Hi my new iphone is due to arrive shortly and I wondered if any of you have any recommendations for a protective cover?

Nothing too bulky as I'll be carrying it around in my pocket but something to protect the screen in particular would be nice, as I managed to crack the screen of my blackberry storm within a few weeks of having it.

Just Careful-TFU?

No cover on mine. Not cracked or scratched it yet.

It is surprisingly tough. Dropped it last week in the street, not a mark on it.

I had a cover on mine - Griffin graphite and the back got loads of scratches from dirt getting in between - so i have now exposed its naked beauty to the world - its so much nicer to hold etc.

My mate has just geot a mode three cover from ebay and it looks really good and quite slimline.

I would suggest just getting one of the battery packs from Deal Extreme and not bothering with anything on the screen. The battery pack gives a bit more grip to the case, being not so slippery, while boosting the useable life. I had a Mophie one that sadly broke, but I've ordered two of the DX ones, as I use Internet radio on my 3G a lot, which shags the battery. Having the battery on just made the phone so much easier to handle.

Why buy a well designed functional object and then cover it up with some badly thought out cheap tat. All that happens with covers is that dirt gets behind them and then scratches up the very thing they are protecting. Do you still have the plastic cover on your sofa for fear of damaging it?

ajc +1

I only use a case when I take it boarding cos I don't want water getting in.

Im on my second iphone and have never covered any of them, and never a scratch on the screen, I think its made of mineral glass so its quite tough. The back gets a little scratched but it just fits in the pocket so much easier

I guess i'm mostly concerned about the screen, due to cracking the screen on my blackberry storm.

Any recommendations for a screen protector?

What you want is one of these

They are great and very protective against scratches and scrapes.
