Have been thinking of buying a telescope for quite some time now, I know I can google the hell out of best beginner telescope etc, but there a wealth of talented people here at STW and so I wondered what the hive STW mind would recommend?

Oops budget thinking 00s, not 000s and something that doesn’t need a truck to move about and doesn’t takes up 2m squared whilst storing it.

8" dobsonian would be a good buy for £380

https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dobsonians/skywatcher-skyliner-200p-dobsonian.html

Give yourself a bit of a budget for other eyepieces once you get the hang of it as they will make a huge difference. I've got a couple of these BSTs and rate them for the price

I've no personal experience of it but Sky at Night and Astronomy Now magazine have both reviewed the Acuter Voyager MAK80 OTA Maksutov Cassegrain telescope and rated it as a good beginners' telescope. Very portable and at a very good price.
