+1 for the girl with the dragon tattoo and the rest of that trilogy,

any John Irving (last night in twisted river is his latest and is great.

I have a copy of Freefall by Tom Reid (now out of print) but a not bad read about an ex para's journey through some troubled time. Yours for the price I paid for it.

Any book by Stephen Leather - especially any of the "Dan Shepherd" ones.

Another vote for the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - its one of the few books I have had difficulty putting down.

On a cycling theme - Matt Seaton "The Escape Artist" - about a guys love affair with cycling - really lovely human true story.

'birds without wings' - Louis De Berniere

Just finished it.. interesting work of fiction set in the times of the end of the Ottoman Empire.. History without getting bored to tears.. Although you may possibly be moved to tears on accasion.. you may cry with laughter and possibly also weep with sorrow too.. good stuff
