Me and some mates are off to the Lakes next weekend for an overnighter. We are not totally familiar with the area and as some of you on here know it well i thought i'd ask for recommendations. Also if you have any good suggestions of routes about 25-30 miles long for both days too that would be welcomed

For routes, check out the bogtrotters site or get the VG Guide to the Lakes. Not sure on bivvy spots sorry.

Tour of Coniston taking in bits of Walna Scar and Parkamoor is a goodun.

[Everywhere I have typed AMPERSAND, replace it with an actual ampersand character. I don't know why this forum engine does not tolerate ampersand and plus characters or how to get around it!]

I've camped here several time when hiking and it's usually quiet and also scenic. There are some small stone shelters on the edge of the tarn that would fit a bivvy bag. It's en route for the Kentmere round and close to an ace trail on the edge of Haweswater. Get Barnes to advise on routes.

Sprinkling Tarn on Sca Fell is a popular one. I can't commetn on whether the riding on the Bridleways is any good though
