just seemed to have spent the past hour or so trying to get past the whirring blades part of god of war/temple of hades (where you have to balance on wooden beams also).
am bloody knackered now (mentally) but proud of myself (got all the chests i think ๐
what are you proud of overcoming after a hard part of a game?
Killing dogs on COD.
That bit in the one where you have to jump over something...donkey kong?
I spent weeks trying to get past a certain point in Call of Duty World at War in veteran mode. The part where you begin the siege on the main building. Weeks, playing the same section over and over, finally nailed it and managed to complete the game. Felt pretty satisfied with myself. Put it on my CV and tell most women I meet. I mean how can you expect to get laid if you havent completed a COD game in veteran mode?!
not sure I ever completed Robocop on the spectrum. There was something seemingly impossible (to a 12/13 year old) at the end.
Final moon level of Snake, Rattle & Roll on the NES. So tough...!
Getting the boot lined up properly so that it kicks the bucket and tips the ball bearing out of the bucket and down the rickety staircase then onto the wiggly drainpipe without it jamming.
Peugeot 205 showcase event on forza horizons.
I ve won everything else but this.
An hour?! Lol.. Lightweight.. Come back when you've been trying something for more than a month ๐
Omega Pirate, Metroid Prime.
ggnnhhhgghhhh.......
There is a wonderful PC game called Grand Prix Legends. The original version was a bit pants but the physics were perfect. Luckily it was very easy to update the graphics so a huge user community built up to make it look great and behave brilliantly. 1967 grand prix cars, 350bhp in a 500 kilo car with radial tyres and no downforce. Crazy.
Anyway, there was an online competition to go negative, i.e. get faster than the racers of the day across 10 tracks or so. One of which was Nurburgring. You had to do a lap first before you could attempt it and that would take ten minutes or so, before you could even start the attempt. I spent weeks and weeks on that track.
Then one day, I was calm, collected, no pressure, just did it, went negative on that track by about 20 seconds which brought my entire time about 5 seconds under the total. I was so chuffed.
Downhill Domination - Quintanaroo Technical Downhill stage
Doom from back in the day.
Golden eye, was very difficult on medium and almost impossible on hard.
I had aliens 3 on a gameboy.
To this day i am sure there was an error in the game

Came in here to say Metroid Prime myself. Only for me it was the end boss itself. As I recall it wasn't so much the boss difficulty that did it for me, but the ridiculous frustrating platform jumping section to get back to him from the last save point. In the end I just said 'f*** it, as far as I'm concerned, I've finished this'.
So not quite conforming to the OP in that I didn't actually finish it, but still.
Finished all tracks on Arcade Outrun.
Then later on won all races in Power Drift in one session then saw the car morph into the jet from Afterburner in a bonus special stage.
So pumped up by the crowd round me, that I won that too, after a few moments of WTF as it started the race
Oh, just remembered:
Secret of monkey island - 'use magnetic compass with key'
Never forgiven it.
Goldeneye Control Room (both versions) has to be the worst on a console.
I really can't imagine doing white forest in half life 2 ep2 again, especially not to clear the neighborhood watch achievement. That and the cell block siege in nova prospekt always make me die a little inside at the thought of going through them again.
The final level of golden eye. I don't play computer games. That is the only game I ever enjoyed enough to bother finishing it. It took me ages but I'd got that far I wasn't letting it beat me. ๐

Agree with the first one. Liberal use of 'save game' just to get through that one. So frustrating.
Second one is easy peasy if you know how... ๐
i just remembered a game i played quite a few years ago that was blinkin hard. it was called trickstyle on the dreamcast and the final level (race) was a nightmare.i spent the best part of a month trying to beat it (with rose). eventually i did.
chuffed,i should coco ๐
here's a video of the level in question
Ridley on Super Metroid (snes)
Lots of bits of Final Fantasy III (VI) I had to try loads of times. God I hate Random Monster Encounters
Chrono Trigger - Lavos
I gave up on Metroid Prime at around the ghost piratey things after 20 attempts ๐
I've got a photo somewhere of the end screen from Lords of Midnight on the spectrum. Wasn't actually that hard once you'd done it but it was pretty much the most daunting prospect ever before that.
Dark Souls. Every 20 minutes or so.
Killing dogs on COD.
I've a game clip recorded of me backing into a corner on Stonehaven firing my last three shots from a marksman rifle then as the reload animation starts, the dog jumps and i knife it in midair.
I'm somewhat proud of that one!
MarlvenRider + 1

This. When I finally completed it on the top level, I was so pumped up I stayed up half the night finishing off the other levels still outstanding (Cradle and Temple). Mainly though I was just elated that I would never have to play Control again, took SO many attempts.
Had a similar experience with one of the intermediate bosses on Jet Force Gemini (N64). Never did beat the final boss ๐

I pretty much dusted the rest of the level previously with some, er, automatic assistance that came in handy for the seige. Not the worst bit ever but it was one of those bits you remember.
My wife's birthday today, and we've packed the youngest kid off to a friend's so we have all day at home. We've decided to play video games all day, and we've loaded up Skyrim, her favourite.
She got stuck in a dungeon trying to kill a baddie but couldn't do it - the last save was in June 2013, the time before that May 2012. So it's been almost three years stuck...!
Last baddy on Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion on the Game Gear. I spent hours when I was about 10 trying to do that. Beat the bas**rd eventually though.
Why not just make your own really really hard goal...? ๐
Stuck on skyrim? Sneak, exploding crossbow bolt to the head from legendary enhanced crossbow then revert to a legendary razor and legendary daedric sword enchanted with chaos and freeze.
Job done. Or drop the difficulty rating.
For me it was the train level on drakes fortune on the ultra hard level, 3 nights to get it just right. Oh and my first attempt at the end boss in FF7 (only 60 hours play) - 8 hour battle until I ran out of everything. 2nd attempt (after 150 hours play) took 4 minutes..
Still trying to locate all the laptops in COD: Modern Warfare.
To this day i am sure there was an error in the game
This, for a lot of games.
Not sure i ever completed manic miner, even on PC emulator.
There actually was a bug in Jet Set Willy that makes it impossible to complete.
Right now, I'm banging my head against the last boss of Titan Souls.
Sneak, exploding crossbow bolt to the head from legendary enhanced crossbow then revert to a legendary razor and legendary daedric sword enchanted with chaos and freeze.
Two issues here. We don't have all that fancy firepower.. plus my wife, not having been brought on on FPSs doesn't know how to do such things as block, sidestep or strafe.
