I rode the forest of Dean Enduro last weekend, and a jolly good day out it was too.
About half way round my last of four laps, I found myself riding close to another rider.
He was a bit faster up hill, I was a little bit faster down hill and through the singletrack.
We passed and repassed each other several times, chatting a bit as we did so, and eventually crossed the line at exactly the same time after over four hours of racing.
We then chatted a bit more, thanked each other for a good race and said goodbye.
The thing is, as far as I remember, he was on a 26er full sus with derailleurs, wearing baggy shorts and a back pack, while I was on a 29er Rohloff hardtail, wearing lycra and using a frame bag and water bottle.
I didn't notice, but it's quite possible he had flat pedals and no bar ends either, while I use bar ends and clipless.
Isn't it lucky that we met in real life and had an enjoyable time together.
If I'd met him on STW we would have had to have a fight. That's the rule, isn't it ?
If I'd seen you with a frame bag I'd have pushed you off into the bushes. Especially so at a race!
🙂
If I meet people in real life, I prefer to have a fight with them than get on with them and have a good time together.
Did you get his number 😉
Did you get his number
I said I enjoyed racing with him.
I didn't say I wanted to ask him out on a date.
Are you Dave?
Hahahahaaaaa... 'meet people in real life' aaahhhahahahahaaaa.
*turns to imaginary friend... 'some of these guys are even claiming to leave their houses!'*
I smell the unmistakable stench of bromance 😀
so the other guy won.....

We passed and repassed each other several times, chatting a bit as we did so, giving chessy grins to each other, and eventually crossed the line at exactly the same time as a couple after over four hours of racing.
We then chatted a bit more, thanked each other for a good race and said goodbye, but not before exchanging phone numbers and email addreses.
Cnt wait for our next Brookeback forest enduro, and must buy some fishing gear.
There fixed it for you.
Ahhhh the nasty whiff of casual homophobia drifts across the forum once again
Don't worry nickc, the humourless PC brigade will soon be along to disinfect and sterilise everything.
They always do at the slightest hint of "inappropriate" tongue-in-cheek leg-pulling, teasing, and other "incorrect" banter.

Where exactly, all a bit of fun. 😆
sounds like a good good day out!
I thought that was going to be another 'Dave of Surrey Hills' thread for a second, rather disappointed that it wasn't.
There wouldn't be any homophobia in these forums if they were policed carefully. We need to be more vigilant. We become so blasé about what we allow and don't allow in here. If we want to avoid homophobia we need to root out the cause of it and keep those poofs out of this kind of discussion area. After all this is a man's sport isn't it?
you worry too much charlie!
