A bottle of wine and some flowers might be in order

This--or you might end up sleeping in the camper van

Why not buy a nice bunch of flowers and tell her you love her, better than spending the evening having a pointless argument!

On a related note I once had a Nigerian try and scam me on ebay but then I also has a really nice one buy a gearbox off me to export to Nigeria ... Don't tar everyone with the same brush??

I think it's good that this place attracts connoisseurs of all types.

She's done nothing wrong. She answered the door. She's an adult, that's her choice not yours.

She probably keeps quiet about the fact that she thinks you wasted your time and money installing and intercom, and she never uses the stupid thing unless you are there.
But she doesn't want to hurt your feelings, so keeps it to herself.

You do sound like you want to control what she does (sorry but that's I she you come across)

You need to apologise.

She answered the door and took a message.

You acted like a complete tool.

For my tuppence worth, tell the you don't to sell the van and let her sort it out. Or maybe you do then she could sort that instead. Few quid for her to spend some new bike stuff for you.

So what you're really angry at is that your wife isn't using the intercom system that you've installed?

Did you have a family meeting and agree to the intercom or was this a unilateral decision on your part during a more severe bout of paranoia? 😀

i'm surprised you even leave her at home on her own the way you talk about her.

I can't really see the issue - she opened the door when you have an intercom, and then someone offered to buy the van. you've said no. no more needs to be said...

I reckon if you think about it really hard.

And try and remember what really happened.

It probably wasn't her idea 😉

Im outa my own thread...I don't need to justify my actions

If some of you believe that everyone is nice that knocks on your door then you may want to wise up a little...

I'm sure everyone does from time to time yes.

But you derailed your own thread in the first post !

Your title mentioned a partner "doing something totally stupid"

But you then went on to tell a story about a woman who answered the door when the doorbell rang.

Can you see how that has confused the thread somewhat.

Yeah, really stupid is accidentally posting one disc from your Firefly box set back to Lovefilm, who then refuse to give it back so you have to buy a whole new box set.

I may have shook my head sadly, didn't dare react further.

I once knocked on a womans door, she answered it and I offered to buy her house.
She said yes.
So I did.

Lived there for 5 years so far.... What a stupid woman.

Maybe you could contact the would-be camper van-exporter man to ask him if he'd be interested in buying a second-hand (hardly used) intercom instead?

When I make a mistake all I have to do is to wait to notice the shadow. Of the ten tonnes of bricks dropping on me from a great height.

When MrAdamW makes a mistake there is a sheepish grin and an 'oh well, never mind, eh?'. 😕
