Watched the first episode earlier.
Seems promising, more of the same but that’s a good thing.
I desperately waiting for tonight to watch it as my wife has said I can't watch it without her 🙄😔
From the trailer he's definitely been juicing it up.
I know they're stupid, but I love the books and I'm currently rewatching S1 to get my fix until later.
i really enjoyed S1..
agreed, stupid...but I like beefed up stoopid!!
DrP
Will have to watch the first one tonight

This. Just what I could be doing with at the moment. However. . . also need to wait for the wife, but she’s out tonight. Sake.
Ahhh finally, enjoyed the first season so will try the new episodes later!
Loved the first series but I can't watch the first 3 episodes and then the rest week by week, so we're waiting till they're all out before binge watching!
I am still an old school watch one a week sort of person so the timings will work out fine.
My only criticism of the first series was that it was a bit slow at times. They could have fitted it in to four episodes. hopefully they will pack a bit more in to this one
Shame the books have gone downhill since Lee Child relinquished writing duties - I couldn't finish Better of Dead.

Is it the actual writing, or the overall plot?
If its the writing, I'm inclined to agree, there were some bits where I thought Lee's brother/random ghost writer/AI was clumsily copying the earlier book's style, and failing.
It just didn't barrel along like the others.
You normally don't have to think about the writing style which is what makes them so good. They just flow without any thought.
Plots have always been far-fetched! 🙂

I haven't read the books, only watched the TV series. I don't understand why people would keep buying books after the original author stopped writing.

TV shows and movie franchises change writers/directors etc all the time.
Sometimes its a shark jumping dumpster fire, but many other times it isn't, and means your popular character gets to live on.
Shakespeare it ain't, but muffin man sums it up quite well with you shouldn't actually be thinking about the writing. The story should just flow into you.
Andrew Childs is the younger brother of Lee, so a close relation rather than a random taking over

Novels and TV shows are a bit different though. With a series of novels, I'd expect the same author to be writing it. With TV shows, I'd expect a large team of writers and a director to interpret the characters. Tom Cruise was miscast as Reacher, the new tv show makes sense to me, despite never having read the books.

I tried it - I didn't like it. Won't be buying another.
Still got lots of originals to read yet.

Very much this - brain out action entertainment that the film industry seems (mostly) unable or unwilling to produce these days.
Just watched S2E01 - enjoyed the Terminator nod. 👍
Been at work today and then works Christmas thing. I'll get the first episode of S2 when I get in. Bring it on!
I enjoyed S1 although the only book I read I just couldn't get past the writing style.
I enjoyed the two Tom Cruise films as well although both could easily have been a Mission Impossible. 🤷🏻♂️
Watched the first 2 episodes tonight / love it! It’s been a long wait since season 1 came out.
Actually read 3 or 4 of the books since watching the 1st season - find them really enjoyable so far.
Terminator nod? More like a head butt
We know he buys clothes in charity stores, doesn’t have a phone, moves about, has no belongings, we get it!
Are we talking about the same thing here @houns? I ask because

has no bearing on the terminator reference. I'll avoid saying what does so not to spoil it for others.
I liked E1, but I'm going to drag the rest out week by week now.
No, nothing to do with terminator, just the general story telling and having to continually refer to it
I half expected the thrift store employee to do the "wash day huh?" line.
Anyway.
Way more fun than that house of usher thing i haven't quite bothered finishing.
Anyone else getting a bit of Reacher fatigue? Loved the first season, but this one seems to be getting worse in terms of characters, script, acting etc. I'm on the verge of switching off if I hear "details matter" one more time.
Re. the mention of Fall of the House of Usher (which I enjoyed) It's funny how the actress who played the young Madeline seems tall and elegant, yet beside Reacher (as Roscoe) looks so tiny!
Anyone else getting a bit of Reacher fatigue?
yep, we’ve given up on it. Wooden acting, dreadful writing and nonsensical plotline. Series one wasn’t this bad surely? Bring back the Cruiser 🤣
Nah, I'm loving it for what it is, but it's not a patch on the books and he comes across a bit dumb, in a comedic way, in this as opposed to the books.
Was funny and surprising to see how into the daftness my wife was in this recent episode too, I kinda thought she watched it to humour me more than anything 😂
It's a preposterously stupid show that's entertaining. If you take it seriously, you're watching the wrong show.
Anyone figured out what changes was made to the first episode if season 1.
It was taken down for a few days and apparantly Amazon said it was due to changes being made.
Only watched the first episode of season 2 and compared to season 1 it seems a bit boring.
They should just have ditched the books and kept Finley and Roscoe.
Mrs Weeksy seems to enjoy it, not sure why 😁😁
Season 2 has been horrific for script and acting, so many dumb things being discussed trying to make the characters look clever, when it does the opposite, same with the scenarios they lay out for the action sequences, with more money you'd think this show would have taken off, but it's fallen backwards with the increased cast and lack of any decent writers.
IMO it's all done tongue firmly in cheek and they're obviously having fun making it, as did Lee Child writing the books. The clothes rail meme is growing like a Fast Show sketch, just a little more improbable and absurd each time Reacher needs a fresh change.

Yeh there's no way he's getting dressed, as a guy, never mind one of that size, in a UK charity shop 😂😂😂
I think I get the T2 ref, but a few years older...
It's v hammy, but S1 seemed a bit more together. For S2 I fell asleep half way through E2, woke up half way through E3, and it has made no difference to my understanding of the plot.
We're loving it, perfect big, dumb, Friday fun. It might help that we're all up to date and so only watching one episode a week. Dixon can crunch my numbers anytime.
His sizes will be XXXL probably easy enough in America for a different reason.
s2 isn’t as good too many cliches, such as diving to stop a bullet.
Still entertaining though.
It's a definite step down from S1. Not sure if it's due to the heavy reliance on flashbacks to the Army days or because the whole thing seems to be filmed in various stages of black and not quite black with added orange and teal hints in everything else.
Still, they've agreed a S3. 🤷🏻♂️
he popped up in the grauniads prize crossword....
Child's hero in Paris on vacation with clergy (9)
The audiobooks make it obvious how badly written the books are. The stories are fine, although he seems to get a lumber no matter where he is.
But "he said" , "she said" after every spoken line has become a joke in our house. We now do it to dialogue in the episodes.

Oh they're terrible. Short sentences. Every time. Hmm.
He hadn't done that. Yet.
I started reading one that was in a shared pile of books at some holiday let / B&B I was in once and nearly gave up after the first couple of pages.
S1 was promising. The cameo for Finlay on S2 was really well done and there's been a few good / amusing lines and in-jokes. The Sarah Connor reference was clever. But yeah, the rest is disappointing.
It's getting dumber and dumber, honestly think the screenwriters are all under 10
