28 days paid annual leave (including bank holidays), plus the option of an additional 10 daysโ unpaid leave
An additional 10 weeks paid leave for every 5 full years of employment
That looks like a long term career, not just a job.
Sounds most excellent to me!
I think Isla bikes will struggle over the next few years though.
They brought quality light bikes to the kids market, but others are catching up fast now.
28 days inc bank hols is the legal minimum isn't it?
Yes, or 20 days plus BH if expressed how most people do it.
I think the OP may have been tempted by: "An additional 10 weeks paid leave for every 5 full years of employment".
๐
That's one way to handle retirement I guess! ๐
That tells me they have issues with staff retention

Or they are expanding due to business demands. Two sides to every coin.

or looking after your staff.
our MD decided last year to give everyone an extra days leave for their birthday. he didn't like working it so didn't see why anyone else should.
Has to be extra 10 days paid leave after 5 years - can't be 10 weeks! If it says 10 weeks, it will be an error
nice long holiday every 5 years, seems like a good idea to me.
At my last company we got 10 weeks after 5 years, it wasn't 10 weeks per year but 10 weeks added to your leave account.

Except the way it is worded (i.e. badly) it sounds like they increase your annual leave allowance by ten weeks every five years - so if you make it to 25 years at the company then you no longer need to show up to work to get paid ๐

no it doesnt...
the actual job ad if anyone is interested. looks like quite a nice job if you are anywhere near ludlow.

Just checked their website and it definitely says 10 weeks for very five years .
has to be a typo on their part , 10 years service gets you half a year off paid , no way Jose .
no it doesnt...
Oh yes it does ๐
You can highlight "annual" if you like. But if omitting annual means it is a one-off thing then presumably that "option of an additional 10 days' unpaid leave" is a one-off thing too.
(You're right of course, I'm sure what they intend it to say is that employees get given a bonus 10 week block of paid holiday once every five years)
Not my bag, but what kind of salary would that be?
well, seems pretty clear to me and I doubt you'll get far at the interview if you started arguing semantics about the leave policy...
I'm a software engineer. I know chuff all about selling bikes, but pedantically arguing about semantics is pretty much a key skill in my job ๐
(comes in useful here too! ๐ )
I have been in touch with them .
The 10 week thing is a bonus after 5 years , it's a one off every five years . You can add two weeks of normal holiday allowance to make it twelve .

That is pretty cool actually.
Wished they'd do that at my place and back date it ....
I'd get best part of a year off
Similar to a company we have just bought, so they have been tuped across (and nando's, apparently) they get a month paid leave on top of normal holiday every 5 years.
they're a really fab bunch if you do decide to go for the job, I went for one with them recently and got offered it but I had to turn it down due mostly to the distance and cost associated, pretty gutted as it would of been fab to finally work with like minded people.
additional 10 weeks paid leave for every 5 full years
It's badly worded then isn't it? Should be '10 weeks at every 5 years' or something employment legals could word better than me.
