[Closed] Quick Q for the medical types

My doctor has took me off Lansoprazole for a while to see if the pins and needles I've been getting is being caused by that. She has prescribed me Ranitidine instead for the short term, which is to be reviewed.

Now here's my question, with Lansoprazole I took one tablet at morning every day. The Ranitidine is prescribed as twice daily.

Now from my understanding, Lansoprazole prevents the stomach producing too much acid, hence the need to take it daily, does Ranitidine do a similar job, or does it just act on the acid in the stomach? The reason I'm asking is, I'm wondering if I can do without the second dose, unless I feel the heartburn coming on.

Any ideas?
