The character Navid, played by Sanjeev Kohli, is based on the owner of the shop, Mr Latif, beside the school Sanjeev went to.

And another fact Sanjeev and his brothers wore turbans to school, school rules dictated that school caps must be owrn at all times to they turned up at school with caps on top of their turbans 🙂

Another true story - I seen Navid at a John Byrne exhibition in London a couple of years back, dunno if he bought anything but after he signed the guest book my wife had to physically restrain me from writing "Navid fae still game" under it
