Drac, my mini went on a go slow after the last restart as it optimised things. Really, really slow, slower than me mincing downhill slow 😀 (Late 2012 i7 with 4 cores).

Is it as good as Windows 10 then?

That's odd. iMac is telling me 23hrs to download, yet just started downloading on MBA, and it downloaded in 30mins.

Time to make an offline installer methinks.

Is it as good as Windows 10 then?

It's .10 higher, so yes. Of course it is. Now stop being silly, and trying to kick off a X vs Y debate.

Yeah it keeps slowing down as it's encrypting my HD.

Seems my Mac Books is too old for Handsoff so I'll have to reach my arms out to answer my phone.

Feels a bit sluggish on my late 08 macbook, but I suspect a C2D 2.0Ghz is the bare minimum.
The biggest pain is I'll have to upgrade from iPhoto 7 & lose the photo bucket plugin. At least it's free I suppose.

Kiwijohn, what RAM are you running on it?

8G ram here on a late '08 2.0 and it seems fine so far

Wow, it really is taking forever to download, and slowing everything else down I'm working on. Might have to pause it and leave it running overnight!

Guess after this update all my other apps will then want to update. Could be a long weekend!

Once mine had encrypted the HD it's been fine. Even the wifi bug seems to have gone from the last version.

Well the update looks quite nice but for the life of me I can't get the audio calls to work!

It rings a number or will answer the call on my iMac but the audio is still going through the iPhone. Not much use when the phone is in another room!

Some of the iPhone stuff won't work until the update on Monday. Hopefully that will as smooth as the last phone update.

Mine finally finished downloading about thirty minutes ago, then twenty minutes or so to install and other gubbins.
Just had a look and it's still got ten or so minutes to go.
Yet to install iTunes 12, it's had a major redesign, and they've finally replaced a feature I used the most, being able to open two windows showing the main library and a playlist or the phone, iPod, etc, so you could see what was in the playlist when dragging new tracks in, which I was very cross about when it disappeared. Now you can have various playlists open when drag and dropping, which will make life so much easier.
Hallelujah!

You could install and find no real issue.

Or

Wait and have a sense of importance about some bugs being fixed that wouldn't of bothered or effected you anyway.

I put it on my MBP and took to work (photographer) to try shooting with Capture One pro 8. Shot all day on location tethered with an IQ260 back on a 5x4 and then a 5DMK3 shooting kitchens. Not one crash or problem. I had an iMac as back up but didn't need it. Thumbs up for me so far, I haven't noticed the MBP being slower or anything like that.

As for the visuals, I think it will grow on me. My machine isn't a retina and as I understand it the fonts etc are optimized for a higher res screen but it looks fine.

Anyone getting constant iCloud login prompts? This type of shit is why I ditched windows. Not impressed.

Hmmm, I'm on a slow connection see and you lot have been quoting downloads of 147 hrs 11mins and 67 seconds..

Looks like I'll be still downloading it this time November 2017 😐

Or wait until I get back to Town where there is a connection faster than a dripping tap.
😆

The download seems to be a bit of a lottery. As mentioned above. 2 machines, same location/connection. iMac had already taken 5 hours, and was going to take another 20+. Turned MBA on and it steamed it down in less than 30 mins. I then used this copy to create a bootable USB drive for Yosemite, and used that to install on the iMac.

Sorted.

Turning off iCloud seems to stop it. Not really ideal though is it. Googling seems to be a bug deleting docs on iCloud.

I love your comments on the Apple threads....they always have me in stiches. Have you thought about setting up a website or blog where you can post 24/7?

There, not here.

Observation from here that my macbook seems to be running a lot cooler, by about 10 degrees.

So it took just under 3 hours this morning starting at 10:30 on my MBP Retina. No issues so far but to be honest I pretty much just use it for browsing and watching videos. Safari seems a lot faster. All good over here.

I'm impressed by your lightning quick response but no.

Edit...tell you what.. I will check back in in an hour. I assume you will have a devistating whitty reply by then. If not you can just fax me directly?

ooooOOOOOooo!
Bikebuoy, did you wee in his boots, or on his barbeque?
Oh, Yosemite has finally installed, updates to iTunes, iMovie and iPhoto being done, I'll have a shufti at what everything looks like in a bit.
TBH, the playlist changes in iTunes are going to make the biggest difference to me, everything else is largely eye-candy, seeing as how little I use OS X.

Both! Then I caught him stealing my girlfiends underwear from the washing line and wearing them on his head, all of that I can forgive. Trolling is another matter.

I am disappointed to find that handoff doesn't work, as the BT chipset in my MBP is too old. Boo.

On the plus side, it hasn't broken the printer as I expected it to do.

I've only got 4 Gb of ram, which may be why I'm seeing so many beachballs. Have to check if it can take more.
Probably should have done the newer iMac first.

All working here, not sure about the new look but guess that will grow on me.

I do like the proper maximise button in the left side now, could never understand why they had the full-screen button on the right. Worth the upgrade for that....

One thing I would like though is some sort of tutorial/help video to highlight the new features once installed. I'm probably missing out on lots of new features.
