Still a good buy.

Hoping mine arrive today as they are a present for my son for being so good whilst I was in hospital on our holidays. He took a shine to my racing jackets whilst I was stuck in a bed!

Is it still just the red frames in the sale?

It 'only' takes £35 off the red ones, doesn't seem to work on the others.

Off to wear mine round swinley in a bit.... Didn't realise the rubber bits are grey, would prefer black tbh.

Lens tint looks pretty dark too.... Oakley website says its for very bright light. Is it any use on a typical British summers day?

Give me 7 hrs or so. If I haven't reported back it's because I couldn't see properly and wrapped myself round a tree...

What's a typical British Summer's day? I wear shades when the sun is shining and it's bright, that can be anytime of the year.

🙄 Gotta love this forum... always helpful

It was a flippant way of asking whether the lens tint would still be ok for mixed use - woods, shade, overcast etc, or whether it was a bit dark. Not that keen on being plunged in to darkness as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud or the single track passes under a few trees....

Maybe this will help, Chris:

http://uk.oakley.com/products/4657/15236

scroll down to the lens tints bit, and it simulates different lenses in different situations.

IMO the Black Iridium is too dark for off road riding on anything but the brightest days. I wear my Flak Jackets as casual glasses (never really struck me as a particularly sporty design), and it's a good lens for general use.

Grey or slate iridium is better for the woods.
Black iridium is 10% light transmission
Grey is 17% transmission, I use these in my radars and can ride in low sun/woody conditions.

to re-iterate what drac/houns have said for the waiverers, they are currently doing free postage (this week only apparently) which offsets some of the increase in cost of the glasses. Loads now hitting fleabay, cheapest is £75.

Did anyone use "FREEPACK" code and get a backpack?

Guess you could always get a set of different lenses for different conditions??

OR

Order a pair of cheaper sunglasses from Planet X and then post on here to complain when they send you a carbon fibre 29er instead by mistake

^was my intention. I'm off to NYC next month, am guessing spare lenses should be cheaper there?

Ah so that's what you meant, might have been easier to ask that rather than a trivial clue.

I have a pair of lockjaws with black iridium lenses use them loads but yes amongst thicker woods they can be a bit dark.

Typical with the eBay thing.
I had split and listed the same pair of red flaks just as the offer was posted.
Same as the Radar I had on here, price dropped that week as well.
Never mind.

@wait4me, the lenses are dollars for pounds, $60 to $100 depending on what you choose.

FREEPACK is telling me that my basket total is below the required amount 🙁

The backpack offer was last weeks offer and had to be over £120 iirc.

I'd heard it said several times that Eyewear Outlet was the webshop of the Gunwharf Quays Oakley outlet, but judging by their contact page it really isn't. Explains why the offers are totally different!
