Fantastic, another "Christmas present" someone will get right for me this year!

I already have my garage floor covered but 2 packs of new mats would go a long way to replacing the damaged and really dirty ones.

Are these just the same as those sort of kids foam type ones?

These work well to absorb shock and provide a warm surface. However if exposed to the warmth from sunlight then they expand considerably and rise into trip hazard ridges which can be quite dangerous in a workshop. I replaced all mine with Aldi camping items- available in brighter colours, easy to clean, tougher and do not cause a hazard.

Been waiting for a while to do my garage, hovered over plasfloor for ages but its just a lot of money.

Nearly put an impulse order in for 10 packs of these on the website but it wouldnt allow it, glad really in hindsight I want to check

I've had these in my garage for a number of years, I have a kit car parked on them and they are unsurprisingly permanently squashed where the car tyres sit, but the car rolls on them ok and they are still looking fine. Good buy I say!

These look good, but I'm sticking with the old carpet in mine. That was a game changer.

We have some large rubber backed shop mats in our garage. They are extremely hard wearing as they are from high traffic commercial environments. The ones we have are of various brandings (Spar, calor etc) and came from a pet suppliers as to be used as kennel mats. They are about 6x4 ft and were relatively cheap for what they are. I'm not sure if they still do the branded ones but unbranded are available which probably look better anyway

@alanf they look more like heavy duty door mats than cushioning foam if I'm not mistaken?

They're pretty heavy duty but are soft and similar to walking on carpet. Won't get damaged if you drop stuff on em and make the floor much warmer. I'd take these every day over foam mats, but it's whatever suits your needs. Just another option.

I found the same when mine got a little damp over winter- they didn't make ridges, they just humped up a bit but still annoying. I liked them before that.

(then became absolutely next level FIRST WORLD PROBLEM ENRAGED when it turned out that whatever factory it is that makes these things for all the different companies and brands changed the design so that there's one notch that's a different shape on the sides, so I couldn't get any new ones to replace worn old ones. It was like the bike industry had given them hints on how to piss me off)

I wrote to the company that manufactures them - they have a name for the phenomenon- “tenting”!!

I put them down in my garage yesterday after leveling the floor last week . My plan is to see how they work and potentially put an old carpet on top of them, I'm keeping an eye on freecycle for something. I figured these would give a bit of insulation and cushioning while a carpet would hold everything down and could be replaced easily enough if it gets too filthy or worn.

I've got similar from Costco along the front of my workbench. Good at insulating your feet during the winter but also make an excellent trampoline for any small components that get dropped. I've lined the floor of my van with these. Protects the floor and makes kneeling to undo the tie-downs/getting changed etc more comfortable.

They do dent and compress if you leave weights on them.

I noticed mine seem to be expanding a little with the regular walking about in the front section this led to a little ridge, I cut a strip out and they are fine now.

The other great thing is the lack of fatigue when standing in one spot. I have a Mac for 3d modelling things and printing them and I mess about with RC's a lot so I can be stood for a few hours with no worries.

They have been £12 for a month or more. I have about 15 packs sat in my garage waiting to be laid. Nice to see some positive reviews on here
