At the National Self Build & Renovation Centre, Swindon. Behind the Nationwide building *

Our experts will explain the options available to those interested in retrofitting eco technologies into their homes and advise on everything from achieving air tightness, insulation requirements and design considerations, to ventilation issues and how to choose between the array of windows and doors that are on the market

Free only in the sense that you represent a captive audience to sell to, but should be useful to get an idea of what retrofit products and techniques are available. Im going just out of curiosity and to expand my knowledge. I know there are a few other feeble-minded eco-nancies in here so thought you might be interested... ๐Ÿ˜‰

* Maybe not.

It isn't a bad old deal. I went last year and have been now and then. Just off the M4, dead easy to find. The several hundred displays of self-build / retrofit / renovate materials is pretty good for that big picture view of things.

A STW potential love-in / tree hug?

I went a few years ago to Self Build show and the permanent exhibition prior to doing the barn. Its well laid out and I think it's great that it even exists. Bit more pragmatic than those yoghurt knitters up at the Centre of Alternative Technology too ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'd be interested in that, quite like the CAT at Muck'n'fluff and always come back with a strange desire to buy a field and a yurt, but something more practical would be very interesting.

Ah, the thread wouldn't have been complete without mention of yoghurt knitting. ๐Ÿ˜€

Right, back to polishing and finishing a tropical hardwood floor, which it appears according to the internet, is not a wood which we should really be using. ๐Ÿ™

I can just see the hint of guilt in your eye as you take the shilling from a client that wants you to lay tropical hardwood ๐Ÿ˜‰
