Just watched it. Wish I hadn’t. Can see how Shane Meadows cut his This Is England teeth.

Kill List is a great film. If you want to go full bonkers then this is as mad as you’d expect a JG Ballard book filmed by Ben Wheatley to be. We walked out of the cinema thinking ‘WTF have I just watched?!’ 😳

Goodness, what a great film - not a comedy, but great stuff. Will look up Kill List and High Rise next....

Loved kill list, but High Rise? I'd stick to the book

All great film recommendations perhaps with the exception of High Rise 🤔

Tyrannosaur is a properly brutal, brutal film. Amazing but brutal.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed is my left field contribution

Watched this back at the time of this thread and have since watched the This is England series (realised there was a prequel film at the end of 90!). It's both heart warming and brutal, slightly depressing and bleak. The interesting part is seeing news footage from the late 80s with lots of riots, Union Jacks and national front talk of "talking our country back". 30 years later...

Also watched Once upon a time in the Midlands. Bit lite in comparison but easy viewing. Warming up to the idea of watch tyrannosaur now.

Definitely give Tyrannosaur a go. It’s a hard watch but it’s utterly brilliant!

I’ve not watched This is England for a long time. I think they’re definitely due a revisit
