We were told to look right on the plane back from Tromso on the 9th March. pilot claimed Northern Lights were visible. I was on the other side and, although there was a lot of interest and people craning their necks from the aisle, I heard no "oooh!"s or "aaah!"s (or "øøøh!"s or "åååh!"s).
We did see some pretty good lights while we were up there. A mate took this when we saw them on 7th, I think. I love the way the full moon's lit up the cloud in from of the aurora.

Wonder if I'll see it from a plane..
I saw them on the way back from the States so maybe if you look north
