It's quarter past 7 in the morning 😂

I did enjoy the 80s day very much as it goes. I thought they played a far less obvious selection then you might have thought they would. 😊

Well I'm loving it. Carl Cox mix was ace, looking forward to hear what Nia Archives picks for her jungle mix.

Someone just requested Weekender by Flowered up. I'll have to switch off at that point. Dull song compounded by the fact it lasts 15 bastard minutes! Never understood the love for it.

Oh FFS people just can't help but moan can they?

Take the best music out of any decade, spread it over a day and it'll sound awesome. Ok there will be some things that aren't to one's exact taste but that's music and variety is the spice of life. You don't get a mix of old new and interesting anywhere like you do on 6music and that's why it's on in my house/car most of the day.

Looking forward to the rest of 90s day - been pretty good so far and Flowered up is just marvellous. ;0)

Just a little disappointed they haven't done a 70s day.

What would be your preferred lineup? I quite miss Keaveny but then really like Craig Charles so it's pretty much even. Could do without some of MAH's more shouty selections but then think she's ok. I could do without Cerys on a Sunday but appreciate the sheer variety she brings.

They did this a few months ago didn't they? I'm sure it's back by popular demand. Hopefully they'll play deeper cuts rather than indie anthems. Something like 'common people' 🙂

Well I’ve just had an hour of flashbacks to student digs. Paris angels perfume such a choon. One of my 2 ever visits to the hacienda was seeing them live there. Future sound of London, kklass, and one of my favourite ever pulp songs. Nearly late for my dental appointment cos I didn’t want to get out of the car.

Agreed. Too much Wubbedy wubbedy dance music.
Its turned into Radio 1 from 20 yrs ago.

I only really listen to Craig at Tom Robinson, and ive fallen out with Tom because my suggestion for "My Album of 2022" was deleted from the facebook page. I mean, you dont have to choose it or play it, but deleting it seems a bit hurtful 🙁

There seems to be a big wave of 90s nostalgia going on at the moment. From linking the current centrist labour party to that of Tony Blair to questioning the ironic or not sexist lad culture of the time. God save us, can we not create and celebrate something new? Or is our ultimate goal Angela Rayner drinking IPA with Sleaford Mods in number 10 in front of a union jack?

My 14 year old daughter is walking around in baggy jeans, tops and nikes, apparently it’s the fashion.

...and in the late 90's we were wearing skinny tracksuit tops and buttoned up polo shirts, like kids from the 1970s Friday Film Special. Fashion just come round in waves, 't'was ever thus.

**EDIT** ... as is middle-aged men saying "tut, teenagers today, what the bloody hell are they wearing..." 😉

Watched the film spike island on iPlayer over Xmas with my 21 year old lad. He informs me that the bucket hats and flares thing is still worn but not by the scallies depicted in the film. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yep.. what my 16 and 18 year old daughters are wearing isn't far off what we'd have been wearing in the mid-90s. My eldest is teeth-grindingly jealous when I list everyone I saw live back then and all the all nighters etc on those lost weekends, all of which there is virtually no photographic evidence of 🙂

Sounds like I'm missing a day of good music. Glad to hear there's not too many floppy haired, tedious, bloody boring guitar music.

I much prefer wubbedy wubbedy.

At least not at the same time

Back? Did it ever leave?

Even though they seem to go through the decades every 6 months, I'm on for a 90's jungle mix wubbedy wubbedy

****! looking at that I've come over all funny. Surely not? Some of it I get but there rest!?!? None of the knitwear or fleeces would have got off the floor of a charity shop at any point in the last 40 years! The youth can't really be wearing this stuff can they?

The more likely you would have been to get your head kicked in at School for wearing it 25-35 years ago, the more cutting edge fashion it is now. See, Dr Martens, and crap fleeces Im sure Tie-dye is probably in there too.

Unfortunately, I remember similar knitwear being worn at Bristol Poly in the late 80s. (I've got flashbacks to some of my jumpers...)

We are only one step away from the return of the Global Hypercolour t-shirt

My daughter regularly goes out looking like she's heading for a Megadog in 1995

I wonder whether the low slung cargo pants/whaletail look will make a comeback? 😂
