Can't think if a better title.
I have a golf and have always got the Volkswagen dealership to service the car but how necessary is it. Could I just get Joe Bloggs garages to do it. And they're open on a Sunday?
European block exemption means any garage can do it and keep your warranty intact. Personally I use an independent specialist for my car rather than a general garage.

Some dealers will try and strongly imply that you must get certain services / service items done with them. Belfast Audi were harassing the shit out of my uncle about his air con and telling him he needed to bring the car to them for regassing.
He got it done at his local Skoda dealer for less than half the price they were quoting.
The only real advantage of using the main stealer is the possibility of "good will" should there be an out of warranty problem
