Ok, having just looked at the free your handlebar nonsense I thought I might point you in the direction of some proper crowdfunding: Belgian beer for life.
Clearly it's not going to work well for you unless you are in Belgium or come by occasionally but there are a few here and it's a relative crowdfunding success. These folks have already been going a few years from their first crowdfunding round but now want to get their own brewery going so are looking for more cash. They have 3 rather fine beers in regular production at the moment

Well....that answers it.... I'm doing my doctorate in Belgium.
I will be an alcoholic academic who only drinks Belgian beer, I'll grow my beard longer...wear loafers, a shirt and shorts to work...maybe smoke a pipe...and do a bit of mountaineering.
Then I'll finally be cool....
