Anyone else very excited about this movie?
Yes muchly
Meh.
Prequels have a bad rep, and I really do not want to see a classic film like Alien, or even Aliens, messed up. Alien3 and Resurrection really did damage to the series and my appreciation of cinema as a whole.
I'm in two minds - I'm hoping it's going to be like the original Alien but suspect it will turn out to be a CGId Blockbuster.
ooooh yes 😀
It looks pretty decent - even if it isn't any good, it's still going to be the best film I've seen at the pictures since Lord of the Rings.
I am excited, everything looks to be in place for an epic Ridley Scott movie.
I'm out of the loop. Is this a prequel to Alien?
Yes a prequel to alien. I am unconvinced but excited

It's not exactly an Alien prequel as such. It takes place in the same timeline and universe but it's about the Space Jockey/pilot things from Alien and the origins of human kind on Earth, so i believe.

According to imdb
Was originally intended as a prequel to Ridley Scott's Alien, but Scott decided to turn it into an original film with Noomi Rapace (who was already set to star in the prequel) still in the cast as one of five main characters. Some time later however it was confirmed that while the movie will take place in the same universe as Alien, and greatly reference that movie, it will, for the bigger part, be an original movie and not a direct prequel.
No it's not a prequel - as mentioned it's set in the same universe, and was originally conceived as a prequel, however Scott took it in a different direction with it's own story.
Doh, beaten to it.
So, it's a prequel then?
Cool. Except I can't help but think of the Chronicles of Riddick now.
ooooooOOOOOHH! Looks better and better everytime a new trailer come along (as it should be)... very excited.
the production design and fx look very mass effect like
Did anyone else notice the Quiraing on Skye in the trailer?
As seen on Danny Mac's way back home.
I watched the latest trailer for Prometheus the other day. A little bit of wee came out.
Can't wait, really looking forward to this. The long trailer looks really exciting.
I know I am rather excited by this. I'm trying not to get overly excited as I really don't want to be let down either!
Watched the new trailer last week, I had still got a boner.
I am seriously excited. The only thing that slightly concerns me is that everything looks a little too clean: One of the great things about Alien was that it was a very industrial looking film.
I am sure it will be good though 🙂
why do they call the preview a 'trailer'?
I sooooo want this to be good, but I've been let down too many times to think it will be. Still going to watch it though.

There's a big difference; inPrometheus it's obviously a scientific expedition, with all new equipment. In Alien, however, the ship is industrial, the USCSS Nostromo, (USCSS standing for United States Commercial Space Ship) is a tug hauling a large space going automatic refining plant, so of course everything is worn and grimy looking.
Deleted scene:
Astronaut #1: "Bother. I can't seem to open up this milk carton."
Astronaut #2: "In space, no one can. Here, use cream."
looks amazing
If they move the scene (screen shot whatever you call it) 1 million times every 1 second like Top of the Pop that will be shite.
If they start shooting everything in the dark that will be shite too.
But if they shoot the film like Unforgiven where the scene can remain still for few seconds that will be impressive.
Otherwise and as usual modern marketing spin pre-hype is a good way to promote a film.
Alternatively buy one of this ...

I appreciate that difference, and am well aware of the details of Alien, but it extended to more than just the sets, it seeped into the atmosphere of the film as well. I'm not saying it's necessarily going to spoil it for me, I just don't want it to end up looking like a computer game.
The grimyness really added to the claustrophobia of the original. This is obviously a different type of film so we'll have to see.
Ooh, it does look promising; very atmospheric and jump making. My wife will never agree to go and see it if I show her that trailer though, I'll just say its a scifi... 😈
Not seen this trailer before, it's not either of the two i've seen
from pistonheads
and it's HD!
VERY VERY VERY excited. Spaceships, Ridley Scott, HR Giger - what more does a film need ?
I have never seen a 3D imax film, so this might be the one to pop that cherry.
Couger? Get your coat!
What?! (-:
Looks excellent, I can't think of a duff Ridley Scott epic, so hopefully it will be great!
Just been saying to my wife that I want a time out from the kids to go see this. Not seen a 'me' film at the cinema for 3 years so well overdue. Might even give that 3D lark a whirl.
Anyone else watching Aliens on E4 then?
I am now. Recently recorded the original so my wife can watch it for the first time.
Why record get that PS3 of yours back in use.
Bargain. Unfortunately I am busy buying up old Disney stock for the PS3. Still - Toy Story 3 and Up are worth it.
I rarely go to the cinema on my own or with the weans, but I will be going to see this film.
Game over, Man!
