Not for everyone it's not.
I've deleted all cookies for STW (again) and I still get it every page.

I have always just continued with recommended cookies, and so far nobody has either turned up at my house to sell me a toaster, found me and stolen my car, sold my geolocation to international spies or hacked my bank account.

I'm not sure how true it is, but I once read that tracking cookies are shared by a lot of sites so if you've clicked accept recommended cookies on another website, chances are you've already given away permission to the same people that you're trying to remove it from on this site.

Well if anyone's interested I'm still getting it. Chrome on Android (tablet). I'm leaving "legitimate interest" ticked and selecting save. Beginning to get a little tired of it now.....

It's fixed for me, ta (W10 Firefox) but when trying different ticking options when it was misbehaving I found that the same number of cookies got installed whether I ticked or unticked the legitimate interest box, just over 100.

Despite various claims that cookies "improve my experience" on some sites (not STW) I've never noticed any difference with or without, so why would I want cookies which let's face it amount to spyware if we're calling a spade a spade? There is no benefit to the user, only the advertisers.

Another point is why do companies bother to provide a with cookies option when there's a continue without cookies option? Who in their right mind would consent when the sites work just as well if not better without?

Works fine on both Chrome and Brave on Linux, and Brave on Android.

I never do blind accept all. I have Allow Cookies set, but block 3rd party cookies, delete all cookies on browser exit, but singletrackworld.com whitelisted as allow cookies (so they don't get deleted).

I think I had the privacy thing once and something about legitimate interest. I would have allowed stw stuff but disallowed anything that looked like it might be a 3rd party.

And the Awesome Cookie Manager tells me I have 21 STW related cookies (most of them EZxxxxx), not 100 like mentioned a few posts above.

44 cookies when logged in 227 when not.

What do 44 cookies do?

I guess GDPR compliance doesn’t extend to todmorden, that figures.

It's supposed to be one click to reject all cookies and one for legitimate interest. There is no legitimate interest for spying on your customers, none at all.

Ironically (for me) I just renewed my sub and switched to the less aggressive Safari to come back. Back to Brave and all shields up it is.

EDIT and the problem is gone. The shields pane shows "3 cross site trackers and other creepy things" in the dialogue.

Still happening for me on Chrome on multiple devices. I have found another browser that doesnt have the issue.
Got a warning for saying what it was. So emailed tech with the details instead.

It's stuff like this that does make you question the point in subscribing.

3 cross site trackers and other creepy things

It occurred to me that they are logging my use of sites I'd get banned for naming here. :/

Popup on every page on Chrome (android mobile) and desktop (chrome, win10). Site is completely unusable.

I'll be cancelling my sub. This is ridiculous.

Sorry you’re still having issues I have some feedback from tech.

We're currently investigating it with our ad provider. They have a suspicion of what it could be and have provided a vague solution. Will be trying it tomorrow.

We have worked closely with our advertising provider that handles the CMP (the pop-up) and they have provided us with a solution to try. We will implementing this tomorrow morning.

The cause could be from the previous CMP that we used with our last as provider and some of the settings still lingering and interfering with the current CMP.

The reason our cookie killer isn't sorting that issue out is because it removes the cookies for singletrackworld.com

The cookie in question is registered to .singletrackworld.com

Notice the leading period on the later domain. We will implement a fix to remove this cookie on that specific domain. We will also be amending the cookie killer to do the same.

If anyone wants to try this out for us and clear those cookies themselves and feedback to us if that works, that would be much appreciated.

Once again, sorry for any inconvenience caused and we are working on getting this fixed as soon as possible.

That sounds very unprofessional and not at all hopeful. Is their ad provider run as a school project? 🤦‍♂️

Saw this thread and Tom's update on another browser that must not be named by me.

Opened sit on Chrome - same issue.
Deleted cookies for Singletrack. Closed Chrome, opened fresh instance of Chrome, came to STW and got the privacy popup (back to having legitimate interests boxes all ticked sadly), unticked everything and hit save settings - so far so good.

All of the above I'd done multiple times before so whatever change was done this morning seems to have worked for me.
Will update if anything changes.

Still fine on this old iPad, unusable still on iPhone 8.

If anything has been done this morning it's made no difference whatsoever.

So an update.

1st Tom is on holiday until tomorrow, but in his absence we haven't stopped work on this.

The issue, as we can determine, is that we used a Consent Management Service provided by a company called Quantcast before we moved to our current provider, Ezoic. The consent cookies that were set by Quantcast are still there in the browsers of the people who are affected by this constant pop up. The reason is that old cookie is preventing the new cookie from being read correctly by the new consent management protocol (CMP) and that means it can't tell that you have already clicked the button and registered your consent.

This is the reason this is so hard for us to fix - the file (cookie) that needs to be removed is not on our website, or our servers - it's in the cache of the browsers of the affected. We can't reach in there and delete them although we are trying to create a way that you can do this yourself with a click of a button in our own 'Cookie Killer'.

Our Cookie Killer doesn't currently fix the issue as the cooke that needs to be removed is not ours to remove - it belongs to Quantcast, who we don't use anymore.

For those that are technically OK with finding cookies and deleting them you are looking for up to 3 cookies named as follows...

.singletrackworld.com
www.singletrackworld.com

Notice the important full stops in front of two of them. These are the cookies we are trying to target. If you know how to do so then you could try finding and deleting them.

Despite them using our website URLs these were set on our behalf by Quantcast. They will contain the information relating to your consent choices when the Quancast CMP was last active, which was around September 2021.

We are going to publish a page of instructions for exactly how to find and remove these cookies for the various browsers that are used but while we do that we are also continuing to try to create a more easy to use solution through our Cookie Killer.

Well I've not done anything to my laptop or phone  and both of those are working fine now!

Whatever has been done at your end has worked . Thanks very much for all your fault finding.

Same here when I posted "I'm back" a page back. The Firefox W10 PC just started working normally again and so did the Android phone, previously clearing cookies made no difference so something must have been done at your end that stopped the problem.

? , Cougar. Just providing feedback. How would cookies from September still be on my machine when I've cleared them multiple times since? Not being funny, it's a real question, does clearing cookies (phone) or using Ccleaner (PC) not get rid of all the little devils? And I thought DuckDuckGo (phone) got rid of them every time I hit the burn symbol.
