You’ve also completely ignored the comparison I made to your (assumed) lack of compasion to my dislike of people, kids and social interaction.
Well, I and others have given specific examples of dog owner behaviour that we find unacceptable. Maybe you can give some specific examples of behaviour of parents that you find unacceptable and we can tell you if we agree or not. Spoiler: we probably do agree.

In fairness I live in Cumbria and wouldn't dream of leaving my dog alone for hours locked in the house. She is also trained to a whistle and I pick up her crap. I must be the one in a billion.
Or perhaps MOST owners aren't arseholes. Same way as MOST kids aren't entitled little whingers (I have a pair). Perhaps we should all avoid generalisations... Actually **** that - carry on - I love these threads!
All joking aside though, if anyone doesn't like dogs I'd stay the hell out of the Lakes - its full of the ****ers! I think the only pub in Keswick to ban dogs is 'spoons... 🤣 Read into that what you will.

I dunno why I’m surprised to learn that 1/3 of households own dogs in this country (it’s getting close to 100% amongst folks I know, including the vegans).

The self righteous & self centred ranting, hatred/intolerance/vitriol to ANY subject that doesn't align with their own view of the world... that is what I was referring to.
your'e going out of your way to pick fights on a cycling forum, and YOU have admitted you have "some pent up anger about this issue". The level at which is manifesting is genuinely excessive. Also, FWIW, I could have written this reply to one of a hundred threads on here recently, it isn't about dogs.
I think the main issue is behaviour dog lovers think is acceptable is not acceptable to non dog lovers. So they think their dogs are well trained and no bother when infact they are just blind to the way non dog lovers expect a well trained dog to behave and the annoyance an inconvenience their dogs cause because they would not be bothered by the behaviour.
There is an outrageous level of entitlement with the vast majority of dog owners IME
