Ok so after all the support on the last thread I thought I'd give you all a laugh with the latest debacle.

Picked up a loan car at Notts station delivered by the dealer on 23rd December- a fiesta! ,not exactly great considering we had to fill the car with overnight stuff, presents and two eight stone dogs. But you takes what you can get.

The car was obviously just received as part ex, was full of crap and had muddy footprints on the dash. But a car's a car and we needed one.

Dealer gets on train to Manc' and we sat off in the snow and ice (wife with approx five hours of post test driving under her belt).

Within ten mins CLUNK clutch cable has gone!!!

So we're stuck in busy traffic with me trying to push the car to the side of the road and failing to grip in the ice. Fortunately a few angry drivers thought they might as well stop shouting and hooting and actually help after I suggested this politely.

AA turn up and slide ONE WASHER onto the end of the clutch cable and attach it back to the pedal within a minute. I meanwhile I had opened the bonnet and was all ready to play at mechanic by doing that thing men do when they just touch things under the bonnet and pretend they know what they’re doing.

So anyway we spent Christmas clocking up over 1000 miles going to Leeds, Blackpool, Colchester and Stafford all over a week in a little Fiesta with a massive Malamute dog in the boot.

We should get our car back on Saturday having had the engine re-built.

Blimey, talk about a baptism of fire for your wife! Has she been put off driving for life yet, or expressed in no uncertain terms that you need to share the pain? 🙂

I'm learning, trouble is I keep spending the money on my bike instead.

Wife has expressed she does not need the green Ps I bought her from halfords as she has now driven in all weathers other than scorching heat.
