Google Chromecast for £20 at Currys

Thanks one ordered.

I have been watching amazon and I have been unimpressed. I have seen two things come up at the same price as I bought them for a couple of months ago

Looks like Halfords will be offering various Garmin deals from Friday, according to HotUKDeals:

[img] [/img]

Prices as shown then another 10% off as well, by the look of it.

I don't know if it's a proper "black friday" but CRC have 25% off all their Sombrio, including a bunch of the shoes- the Shazam is the best winter flat I've ever tried but there's other things that look good

Some very good prices on BT Broadband/Phone/TV Packages if your deal is about to be up, especially if you add in the huge cashback on offer from Quidco.
I just got Infinity & Phone for £10 a month, but with £90 cashback and a £100 Sainsburys Voucher. If you are looking to add TV in, it's £250 cashback, though ties you into an 18 month contract.

Orange bikes are doing 20% off their online shop including the bikes on offer. They've got a five s plasma blue for £2000 with some shipping damage that would be £1600 with the discount. That's only a bit more than a frame, can't work out if that's good or not with the spec of the bike etc. Someone might be interested though.

It's great.

I can cast (almost) anything to my TV, from any device, with minimal fuss. What's limited about that?

I was speaking to my bro in law last night about it and hes sceptical (IT bod). He said in practice I'd be limited due to my phone and its own area signal. It'd keep stalling on the screen etc and my data allowance maxing out?

Its a S3 Mini on jelly bean 3G on wifi hotspot allowance if it helps?

It uses wi-fi hora - the chrome tv connector and your phone need to be on the same wi-fi network (ie. in your house) and then it just streams locally.

Googled it and watched couple of vids. Said you can stream stuff from a chrome browser. So that excludes pictures & vids on your c:\ happy to be corrected?

If so would be ideal for my parents who want to see pictures saved on the laptop on their TV.

Edit: Just watched the google vid, and it confirms just about anything ON THE WEB pictures on the C:\ are not on the web

not tried any of these but looks possible - mainly involves installing a browser extension to watch local content in Chrome.

I can cast my whole tablet screen, so anything that I bring up on my tablet will be on the TV.

That's with a Nexus. Not sure with Ipad

Its not a one box solution in reality though for 70 year old parents though that are technology challenged who want to stream from an iPad or pc. It looks like a product designed to get you to move to google platform 😆

Yup, the phone is simply a replacement for a remote control, the content on the screen does not come via the phone, it streams directly from the wifi network.

I had to swap, I am coming to the end of my current contract with Plusnet in the next month anyway so it was good timing for me! I'm not sure what the deals are for existing customers.

Ha, to be honest most of the providers seem to offer such huge cashback deals via Quidco I'll be quite happily bouncing round different suppliers every year to get cheap introductory offers.
