Optimal physique is upper body of Kate Moss, lower body of Geoff Capes, surely?

The track guys who are 'stocky', aren't doing endurance events MG, not even the 4-5 min endurance events.

Yeah true. I still think I'd be better at the pure sprinting than the MTBing. If I ever manage to make a living in or near Cardiff during the week I'll get myself to the Newport Track for their race nights.

I have asked Mrs Grips for the picture...

shagging FACT

I refer you to my earlier comment!

No evil laughing at the back.

I missed your earlier comment - what did it say? (not reading 6 pages to find it!)

I don't know about the diet coke stuff, but i know its true for pringles. Evil food scientists messing about with our food.

*chants at mol, photo, photo, photo, photo*

iDave, is it ok to mail you about iDave Diet+?

Been struggling with diet for far too long but might need help. Was in a similar state with exercise last year, started PT sessions and have improved my fitness quite a bit (still rubbish, but much less rubbish). A year later still doing a mix of riding, spinning, gym, boxing and boot-camp for fun.

Looked at a few Nutritionist's websites last night and there seemed to be a lot of "use this product" or "superfoods" and accreditations from slightly iffy sounding associations. Maybe I'm too skeptic, but seemed like snake oil to me.

I know I should be able to motivate myself but struggle on and off with depression and not in a great place at the moment (might post about that but this isn't the thread). Just ordered The 4 Hour Body Book and The Chimp Paradox, so gonna try the self help angle too.

Thanks,

smoggy

I'm saying yes. Cos you'll not be properly kicking the habit of sweet stuff.

other than Coke (Coke Zero to be precise) and Chocolate I actually can't stand sweet stuff so your "theory" doesn't really make sense.

I'm not really intersted in kicking any habbit either.

Does that have anything to do with kicking hobbits?

My 'theory' didn't have enough information then.. many people (me included) do crave sweet stuff and might be tempted to use diet fizzy drinks as an alternative, and this might not be good.

Just discussing the issues in a general non specific way, don't get defensive! ๐Ÿ™‚

Defensive? ๐Ÿ˜†

I think you'll find I originally asked Dave, not some muppet who's simply following his Diet. discus away, just not with me (unless you actually know what you're talking about).

So now I'm a muppet for discussing a subject? This is a forum you know. Dave has an email if you don't want anyone else to comment.

Whilst we're on the insults - you might also like to discuss, read and think a bit instead of simply asking the guru.

GW - my answer, as I sit here drinking a diet coke, is that it's not a drink I'd want to drink loads of and there is a body of evidence that suggests that diet drinks contribute to obesity levels. Your call. Personally I try and limit synthetic food and drink. Whatever that means.

exile_smoggy

if you ask more generally there are many people on here who can email you what you need to get started.

alternatively, if you simply dont eat till you have read every post on STW that is iDiet related you will lose weight, or conciousness, or even just the will to live....

Today there were nothing suitable on the menu at work apart from a crispy duck quarter. Not even any veg. Well they had pickled red cabbage, but sod that.

Got a load of nuts from the shop instead.

No. Molgrips you're a muppet for answering a question directed specifically to the person best qualified to answer and then talking out your arse.
Why fanny about to "discuss, read and think a bit" instead of simply asking the [s]guru[/s] man who came up with the ****ing Diet in the first place directly.

thanks Dave.

For those that found the previous article interesting, here is another one:

http://www.ajcn.org/content/90/4/986.short

This time it looks at the insulin response from isoenergetic meals, rather than individual foodstuffs.

No, 1 min on google scholar then 5 to read the paper.

If you google the title of the first article you can click a link that will list all those papers which have cited it. You can then search within those for keywords such as 'insulin'.
