At epic towers the tree is finally dressed, plain white lights, and minimalist brown decs as dictated by Mrs Epic. I'm liking it actually.... 20251221_204422.jpg

I used to be firmly in the 'white light' camp. Now with nostalgia for my 70's/ 80's childhood hitting harder every year I'm campaigning for coloured lights on our tree. unfortunately with little success.

This year we have gone for white lights for the tree due to buying a 7ft tree instead of a 6ft. Last year we used white and multi coloured lights on the tree.

I used to be in the white lights are B O R I N G camp. My eyes, literally, have seen the light. Now, I'm happy to allow people to indulge whatever light type they like for their Christmas decorations.... although having said that, I did find the neighbours flashing lights in the front garden a bit much on the way up the garden path.

Firmly white lights-only for YEARS. I went purple last year. Back to white next year.

Are your interior walls all white? Is your kitchen monochrome? Is your car concrete grey? Then white otherwise colours.

All warm white and loads of them on the tree. We bought a 6' tree this year the string of lights wrapped up and down it 4 times. Due to decorating our tree did no go up until 23 evening which is a win for me! Must get busy in December again next year to maintain this. Mrs Sandwich requires lots of lights on a tree I think that there's a 1000 of them in the string, she's happy and as a result my Christmas stress is much reduced.

can't call the ornaments as they are hand-made by grandchildren and I'm not going to pick a favourite.

Other tree decorations are from visits abroad going back years along with some very chic glassware that Mrs S is in charge of. One year there was a disaster where 6 Swarovski stars were broken when the tree fell over. Same year as the flooding in the North and West of the country.

I read something recently about the trend for white walls and natural wood surfaces being because it's calming and the world is too hectic or there being a lack of hope. In the past we've gone for bright colours as part of periods of hope and creative energy.

Dunno if all the white xmas lights this year relate to that.

White xmas lights are a bit boring but I do like that type of warm, low level lighting generally. It's a fireside sort of thing. Anything's ok as long as it's not flashing like an 80s disco, because that is too hectic for me.

Late to the thread, but it has to be unicorn vomit. White xmas tree = Melania Trump style.
