[#452203]

I have to get my brother a birthday present. He is joining the police.

Is there any particular piece of paraphenalia that all police-persons need and are not issued with, or something you are issued with that is so crappy you immediately go out and buy your own?

Fanks

Jon 🙂

Expecting the first three replies on this to be from police-persons offering constructive suggestions was astoundingly naive of me, wasn't it?

🙂

The ex-husband of a friend of my wife's used to make little gore-tex pouches for adding to polis belts for storing notepads, etc. Might be something similar online?

You could get a decent torch - the ones we get given are pants. Try the Cyba-Lite Auro, about £10 on ebay.

And a proper handcuff key - look at the HK01 on this clicky.

Key-ring holders are really useful too - look at the ZT55 on this clicky

And/or one of these - they are brilliant

Traffic wallet (see link below) and a good led torch. Smaller the better, so avoid a foot long maglite.

What was that thing Sean Connery carried around with him in Untouchables? Patron Saint of lost causes.

If he was a film buff he may appreciate the sentiment

The Shurefire 6P torch was one of the favourites a while back, but it may have been overtaken by some of the LED types now.

My brother is a learned man with a phd in social anthropology who can also do press-ups on his middle fingers.

Thanks for the ideas folks, much appreciated.

Make sure that as you lob it at him, you inform him that it's for becoming an instrument of state oppression and the ruling imperialist clique.

It is a difficult thing to accept Gus, but I am afraid that fraternal affection overcomes my natural wariness of the agents of my oppression. 😉

Haven't seen many coppers carrying these lately.
Not sure where you'd get it from.......
