We are looking at possibly booking a karting session for my soon to be 11year old and a few of his mates and wonder if anyone knew of any good starter venues, without crazy fast karts and a beginners track.

Teamsport in Leeds is pretty good, they have kids carts and a fun track, gets busy though so avoid Friday/weekends

I doubt an almost 11 year old will be turning their nose up at an indoor circuit.
The kids start racing at national level at age 8, 11 is pretty old in racing, but yeah, suppose indoor would be okish if he's not been before
It's a birthday party, not a career choice.
It's an experience and you can't beat an outdoor circuit for that type of experience and who knows were it will lead.
