I'm putting together a budget price for a CCTV system, cameras all to run over our fibre system via PoE connections- but what injector do I need? Are they all pretty much the same? RS suggests £25-30 each...
will you not need media convertors from fibre to cat5 then into POE then out via cat5 to camera?
I've got network switches already, to take the fibre termination point, also cat5 cabling sorted, but not sure how to spec the injector itself. Is it just a case of picking one with the right power rating for the device it's feeding?
Not sure when I used them for Wireless Access Points they were pre specced from supplier. They were always the weak link too, constantly breaking.
If you're just plonking them out in odd places, so a POE switch or mid-span isn't needed, then grab whatever is cheap.
